How to sign up for membership for the Xena Online Community

In order to be a member of the Xena Online Community, you must have a Yuku account. If you have one, great. If you don't, creating one is very easy and should only take a few minutes.

1. If you have a Yuku account: To apply for membership, you need to attempt to make a post -- that is, click either on the "New Topic" button in any individual forum (for instance, The Xena and Hercules forum), on on the "reply" button in any thread. Please note: If you are logged into your Yuku account, you may not see those buttons. In that case, you need to log out and attempt it again.

When you click on "New Topic" or "Reply," you will be taken to a page asking you either to log in (using your username or email), or to create a new profile. Log in at the prompt. At this point, if you are not a board member, you will be taken to the "Apply for membership" page. In order to apply, enter a brief text in the text box (e.g. "Please admit me to XOC") and click the "Send" button under the text box. The admins will receive and approve your application.

2. If you have an EZboard account and would like to upgrade to Yuku: Go to EZboard account Yuku upgrade. Please note: If you were an XOC member before the Yuku migration under your EZboard handle, you don't need to upgrade -- your account was upgraded automatically in the migration and all you need to do is log in at the prompt with your EZboard handle and password. This should work even if you signed up for XOC membership on EZboard but never posted.

2. If you need to set up a new Yuku account:

One option is to follow the steps described above -- that is, click on "new topic" or "reply" -- and then follow the instructions for creating a new profile. However, at this time, because of a Yuku glitch, the default setting for that process is to create a local account, which will make it somewhat complicated for you to join other boards with that account. Also, some people have had issues with the server "freezing up" while trying to create a local handle. Generally, we recommend that you create a global account even if you plan to post only on XOC; it doesn't have any disadvantages.

To create a global Yuku account, go to Yuku signup and follow the easy steps to create a new profile. (Please note that when you are asked to enter your first and last name while creating an account, the name you enter will not be your username/handle -- you will be asked to create that in the next step.) After you have finished registering your account, you will receive validation instructions at the email address you have provided. Validate your account.

After that, go back to XOC and follow the steps described above for joining the board (that is, attempt to make a post while logged out of your handle, then log in at the prompt and send your application to XOC).

When you are approved by an administrator, you will receive notification by e-mail. And then, post away!
