Oooh cool, thanks for posting it. I'm very interesting in watching because I have a very strong belief that humans are NOT superior. Honestly that viewpoint sickens me.

So how do we justify our actions against the actual real world?
Animal torture, using animals for testing cosmetics, weapons and medicine, dumping toxic waste and plastic into the oceans, vacuuming the oceans of life, zoos, clearcuts, etc etc --if not for the untold assumption that we can do whatever we please with the place? Trees are seen as resources, not living beings..etc Its all treated as objects...

I haven't watched the whole video yet but I'd like to add:

What makes the human species unique, in my eyes, is the combination of all kind of skills and talents in all kind of qualities- and we were, are and will NEVER be the best. I don't believe such a term is very scientific.

No species is meant to last forever. You can say we behave like we please with this place, but it's not like we're not going to have to pay for it. Because in the end we destory the living conditions we need to stay alive.

Don't get me wrong, we're on the same side here, I'm just going to try to switch angle:

What makes humans unique in the animal kingdom?

What makes jellyfish unique in the animal kingdom?

What were the framing conditions? Humans are unique because....... based on what makes sense for a human.

A classic: Failing to make a chimpanzee learn human sign language. The chimp only learnt a few random words. Obviously the chips is more stupid than a human. Well..... how much chimp language can a human master? Actually, the chimps is the actual bilingual one. But it's not relevant, what is relevant is the mastery of human language. What makes sense for a human sets the framing conditions.

It's like Kleist says:

If all men had green glasses instead of eyes, then they would have to judge that the objects they see through them are green- and they would never be able to distinguish whether their eyes shows them the things as they are, or whether it does not add something to them which belongs not to them but to the eye.

It's always how WE see things and what conclusions WE draw from them- we only have this starting point.

Terms like "better" or "superior" don't say a lot in this context, because it's putting things in random relations. Your example with the chimpanzee is a very good one. I don't believe that any scientist, these days, would come to a conclusion a chimpanzee is more stupid than a human. What would the information be of such a conclusion?

I think what I am actually trying to say is that I don't believe that most of us consider the human species superior.

I'd say we have to differentiate between "us" as in the individuals that have a different mindset and "us" being the culture in large.

Did you watch my second posted video, the one I warned being emotional and graphic?

If you decide to watch it, what conclusion would you draw about "us", the culture in large, acting like we were the guardians of this planet, its very master, doing whatever we well pleased with the world?

The second video wasn't meant to provide a solution. You didn't believe this kind of thinking was prevalent among us, so I posted the second video and asked if you saw any kind of diseased behaviour. How do you approach a behavioral disease, taught by our very culture, perhaps not with direct words, but with the entire way of life we live and take for granted?
