Hey folks, I've heard from Yuku rather another board owner HEARD from Yuku apparently, there was a "problem" with the ads over the weekend. I'm still not convinced because our views are still higher than what they normally are but whatever the case, I'm filing a complaint (er, support) and hopefully those who donated won't be for naught (we were getting low on credits anyways). I'll let you all know how it turns out.
They ads should be turned off (via Yuku, but we'll see what happens).
For the record, Yuku never made an announcement about this. When board managers started noticing something really screwy, only then did Yuku admit there was a problem.
If you've recently noticed ads appearing on the forum pages (e.g. topic pages), it is because we have ran out of our allotted "free page views" which allows most of our forum members ad-free viewing and a limited amount of ads on most new members and infrequent posters. Last Friday and Saturday (10/21 and 10/22), the board saw over 920,000 page views. In layman's terms, that means we were really hopping those two days with a lot of action. I don't know why, or how we got so much action those two days but whatever it was, it ate up all of ad-free views. We're not complaining or anything about the sudden burst of activity.
We can get ad-free again, but only with the kind generosity of our members. There are two ways you can help out. One helps out you personally while the other option helps out other members. The first option you have is to buy Yuku supporter. For $12/year, you get ad-free status and a few other goodies. Your ad-free status applies to any Yuku board. It also means that when you visit us, your presence doesn't count against the boards views.
The second option is to contribute directly to the board. A donation of $6 will purchase 30,000 ad-free page views. This will give us about 7 to 10 days worth. A donation of $54 will give us 270,000 ad-free page views or about two months of ad-free viewing. The final amount varies based on the activity on the board versus Yuku Supporters versus non-Yuku Supporters and how busy the board is on a particular. day
No one should feel obligated to donate. This is purely voluntary. To donate click here.
To inspire our members, anyone who contributes to the board (to get ad-free page credits) will get an "exception" as our way of saying thank you. Meaning, you'll probably never see another Yuku ad again while posting and/or viewing the XOC topic pages.
