Sylvius Delmonte wrote:She was very interesting, and the mere fact that she wrote for the show is yet another reason why you should love this fandom and 'verse. I did enjoy both her episodes and thought they held up quite nicely alongside the "professional" writers. However I can't completely relate to her takes on Xena and Gabrielle. Granted my perspective is clouded by having read her fanfics. Actually, I think her Uber characters Dar and Kerry fit more with my view of Xena and Gabrielle than when she actually writes them as Xena and Gabrielle. Yeah, that does sounds confusing and it is, so lets just say I enjoy her as a writer, but think we had a bit different views of the characters. Hence she's not on my list of favourite writers. Still she deserves major kudos for what she's done for both the show and fandom.

TheJollyApe wrote: I found it strangely ironic and bit sad that she was given a rather shippery episode to write. Not what I would have expected from a subtext fanfic writer, not at ALL. But I am not sure she had much choice on the general storyline. And I don't personally care for her writing anyway, but I recognize that many do. I think it is cool that a fan was given the chance to work on the show, however.

Its nice that a fan got to write an episode, I dont think any other tv show has ever hired a fan to write a tv show ever. I did think she wrote a great
episode, CH is one of my favs, but I'm not really into her writing of fan fic, but I'm sure alot do.

Missy Good was very good as a writer and she still is.

Coming Home and Legacy were done well, I forgot she also wrote another episode that didn't get produced in season 6, forgot what it was.

'Fallen'. That would have been a really good one, since Gabrielle comes to terms with her life as a warrior. I think it ended up being used for one of
the virtual seasons.

Does anyone know why it didn't end up being produced? I agree about it being better in the place of SP.
I also think that the more shippery parts of Coming Home were different from the original script. I'll have to go back and see what the differences were.

Here's an article from Titan magazine (No. 14, which would have been November 2000) in which Missy Good discusses her work on the show:
Spreading the Good Word It sounds like Legacy was almost completely her "baby" while Coming Home was more of a collaborative effort. I do know that the final scene was basically transplanted from the Motherhood script with a few changes (which means it was R.J.'s writing), replacing the original scene which was presumably written by Missy. Or maybe not -- her interview makes it sound like she didn't write any of the scenes with Ares, though in another interview she says she was the one who wrote the fly joke. I actually like Legacy a lot, and I thought Fallen was a pretty good script. MG also wrote Last Chance, the original Sappho episode that later (thankfully!) got replaced with MHR. I have to say I didn't care for that one at all -- a lot of the humor was pretty crass and demeaning to Xena, and I didn't like the idea of Sappho being portrayed as a witch-with-a-capital-B, a nympho and a plagiarist.
