We've spent a lot of time discussing romantic relationships but the family ones were important as well. And as I started thinking about this thread, I realized there were more of them than I thought! So here's a list. In addition to your top favorite, please list the next three in your post if you're so inclined. I left out some relationships off the list because I felt they didn't get enough screen time to quality -- Gabrielle and her parents, Ephiny and Xenan, and minor characters like King Lias and Diana. However, feel free to vote for them if they were your favorite ones! Which is your favorite family (parent/child or sibling) X:WP relationship? In part because I really like both characters, but also because I think out of all the family relationships besides maybe Xena/Livia and Ares/Aphrodite theirs was the most interesting for me. And I think Darian Takle is an excellent actress. My second and third favorites would be Ares/Aphrodite and Joxer/Jace. In my wallpapers, all brushes are from Deviantart.com. To me their relationship (both baby Eve and adult Livia/Eve) was the most interesting. We got to see a side of Xena we'd never seen before. We'd seen her being affectionate to Solan but she still knew that, because he had a life and a home with the centaurs she didn't want to take away from him, there was a line she wouldn't cross. With Eve she really got to be a parent and seeing that nurturing, loving side to her was really beautiful. Then when she returns with Gabrielle from their 25 year nap to find Livia and we see her desperately fighting to save her daughter from becoming what she used to be and how devastated she was that she had missed out on watching her daughter grow up. Particularly the scene in Livia when she says "I gave away one child once. And this time, I wanted to do right by Eve. But I woke up and my child had been ripped from my arms." and then, after a little intervention by Eli, it was great to watch as Xena found the daughter she had always wanted and started developing a relationship with her again. "If I only had 30 seconds to live, this is how I'd want to live them - looking into your eyes" Xena FIN 2

It's the only one that really translated across the screen with intensity, IMO. My second favorite would be Xena and Cyrene. Thanks to LK for the keepership and bitext banners!

I could not decide between Xena and Cyane, Xena and Solan and Xena and Eve. I think Xena has a very good relationship with members of her family. Despite all the difficulties and all the things that happened to them, Xena always tries to protect them. A particular one was Xena and Solan. For me Xena left him to the centaurs because she was afraid that something would have happened to him. She was trying to protect him from her enemies. And that costed her a lot. I remember in Orphan of war when she walks away at the end, and she is devasted. She wanted to stay with her son, but in the meantime she knew this was impossible, as Solan could have been killed or kidnapped by her enemies to blackmail her. So because of this, Xena was forced to stay away from her child. I find that very touchy.

I totally agree . I like Eve as a character generally and her bond with Xena was unique IMO. I also like Xena/ Solan and Xena/ Cyrene realtionships a lot. Now, if I had to choose another one I would probably choose Ares/Aphrodite because I always thought that Ares' love for his sister was completely unshelfish and that Aphrodite really cared about him. thanks Mstrss, Aurora and Moony for the amazing banner ,keeper and avatar! My vote goes to Ares and Aphrodite. I like is the unlikeliness of how close they are. Who's have thought love and war would get on so well together? They have a very sweet sibling relationship anyway, and I think it's perfectly demonstrated in TQIM. It's the simple, playful digs at each other that get me, like... Aphrodite: Pigs can fly? Ares: You can. My other favourite moment is a complete "aww" one. At the end of TGYK when Aphrodite makes a jokey attack on Ares and he pretends he's about to hit her back, and instead he puts his arm around her as they walk off. That makes me smile every time. And maybe just because I like seeing "Xena and Eve" together like that in print! I also love Xena/Cyrene, and Gabrielle/ Lila. And Xena /Solan. Gabrielle and Hope definitely made for the best drama and there's so much delicious complexity to them. Then there's Xena and Cyrene which is so realistic (minus the haunting) that it's almost a little painful. My personal favourite though is Gabrielle and Meleager, not sure if they count seeing how they don't actually share DNA. But to me they were the one family relationship that really got to me. It was both a very positive message as well as offering some possible depth to Gabrielle's past. I liked it. I also liked Gabby and Lila though. Gabby and Hope had the most interesting relationship, but it was kind of disfunctional. LOL

I find their scenes together incredibly moving and powerful ... and (often) sweet at the same time. But I'm having a really hard time choosing the runners-up! I'm torn between Xena and Solan, Xena and Eve, Ares and Aphrodite, Ares and Athena (which I actually thought was more interesting in some ways) and Joxer and Virgil. Heck, Gabrielle and Hope was quite fascinating too, and Xena and Lyceus... aaaargh! I'll be back.
