I'm a regular convention goer. I go whenever uni or health does not get in the way. They give my life meaning.

I went with "I have never been to a convention and may go some day but it's not a top priority".
I think it'd definately be something interesting to attend and see just for the sake of doing it and having a chance to meet people with similar interests and things like that, but with so many other things that happen on a daily basis *cough*college trying to kill me*cough* and then other things just coming up random (leaking car windshields) I just can't bring myself to make it one of my top priorities. Kind of like when I wanted to go see She Wants Revenge a couple of years ago and I didn't because I decided that even though I love the band an eighteen year old alone in Dallas at a rock show would've been a possible source of trouble -- so something won over my desire to go. Not quite the same, but hopefully the parellels in my mind made some sense here, haha. In other words, I think it'd be interesting, but I can't bring myself to put it at the top of a 'to-do' list. Well that and getting to a convention in California would be hard for a full time unemployed college student.

I've been once and I plan to go again- of course, money is an issue but I didn't vote that way because I know I will find a way to go again. I think it
is an amazing experience, seeing Lucy, Renee, other cast and crew and of course hanging out with XOCers.
And did I mention seeing LUCY???

Never been to one, but I'm going for the first time next year. I've missed out on all the conventions in the past two years because of my mom's
overprotectiveness. Now that I've finally gotten her to realize I'm an adult and she can't stop me from going, there's no way in hell I'm
missing the big 15th anniversary meet-up.

Regular con goer. I've been to 3 conventions so far. (started going Oct 2007) I've been regular since I first went to one, and I intend to go to
every one as I can in the future.

Regular convention goer since 2007.
And the funny thing is that as recently as 3 years ago I would have given the same answer as DD... I really felt that it wasn't my thing and I had no interest in going. What changed it for me was that they did a convention in New Jersey less than an hour's drive from where I live. That's when I thought, okay, I really can't pass up this kind of opportunity.

Other:
'I've never been to a convention, would love to go, money is not the issue, but am uncertain as to what sort of horrible web of lies I would have to create in order to have a good cover-story for missing half my uni term' Catchy, eh? I would honestly love to go to a convention. It is a lot of money, but I'm sure I would deal with it. I just can't imagine in what universe my parents would give me permission to go. Travel all the way to America on my own, see people I've never met before, miss loads of uni work, spend lots of money....all for a T.V show? Even if it was in London, it would be the same except just a little closer - it's still pretty far away from Edinburgh. I don't know, maybe London is a little more possible, but still very ambitious, shall we say? I could invent some sort of cover story, but it's very probable that I would get rumbled. Plus, y'know, moral issues about lying, blah blah blah. But more the 'getting caught' thing. So maybe some day....but not any time soon, I don't reckon.

The cost depends in part of what kind of tickets you want to buy and what you want to do at the convention.
The most expensive (gold ticket) is $479 this year. That includes the best seats, attendance at the dessert party and charity breakfast, and all the autographs (except for Renee's this year, usually she doesn't sign). It does not include the photo ops (an opportunity to have your photo taken with the stars -- usually not Lucy). Those usually range from $40 to $60-70. So if you want to have your picture taken with, say, five or six of the guests ... you're looking at another $300 or so. Most people also buy at least $100 worth of merchandise but of course that's your own choice. The hotel is about $140 a night (when you include tax) so if you get there Thursday night and stay until Monday morning that's about $560. And you'll probably spend at least $60 a day on food, probably more if you want to go out for drinks with some fellow Xenites. If you add it all up you're looking at $1800 or so, without airfare. Of course that's if you choose the most expensive way to go. If you choose the least expensive convention tickets (general admission) I believe it's about $150 for the whole weekend (they haven't posted this year's prices yet). That doesn't include any autographs, though. You can also minimize your hotel costs by doubling up with someone. And there are hotels within walking distance of the Marriott (like the Travelodge) that cost a lot less. Plus you could leave Sunday night instead of Monday morning, and arrive Friday instead of Thursday -- that way you only have two nights at the hotel. If you're really on a tight budget you could probably manage to attend for around $500.

There were options to buy Preferred seating for single day, yeah, which I think if you bought a single day ticket for each day it would be cheaper than the
Preferred package because it doesn't include the autographs (I believe).
I wonder if this year the General admission is going to be about $110 because the Gold ticket is $20 more than it was this past convention. Hopefully it'll stay at $89, though and that the price increase is only for Gold (and perhaps Preferred).
