Isn't someone's sex usually their gender? What do you mean by gender. You said with Xena it was all about gender preference...can you explain that a little more pleaseee?

Wow, interesting, Meg. Thanks! I would say I classify those terms as identities or labels...descriptions or roles, but not a gender. I fit almost all of those (female) terms, on any given day!

Anyhoo, on to the poll...I voted very gay. Yes, even given her history with Borias, Marcus, Ares, Antony, Ulysses, etc, I am saying Xena is very gay.

My viewpoint is that Xena was, in her past, probably bi-sexual. A lot of people experiment and try different things when they are younger, and that's what I see Xena doing. She also had Lao ma, Akemi, Mi'Lila, Anokin, etc in her past, most of whom I believe she was sexually attracted to or involved with.

But that at the time of the series, when she was with Gabrielle, she was totally gay in my mind.

Xena was devoted to and in love with Gabrielle, while still using her sexuality to scheme and manipulate men becasue she knows how to use that power. But I didn't ever see her as actually genuinely being attracted to men in that current time frame, or settling down with a man/husband at any time in the future. If Xena had lived and Gabrielle had died in FIN, I think she still would have found comfort in the arms of another woman, (like she almost did with Otere in AITST) if anyone at all, and not a guy.

That's just my perspective and I realize many people disagree and see her completely different- I've seen the Xena sexuality poll in the Shipper forum so I know this thread will have a lot of very different answers- but that's my take on Xena.
