Another glimmer of hope that hopefully will come to fruition: last month, a bill was introduced in the Senate by Patrick Leahy and in the House by Jerrold Nadler; "To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to eliminate discrimination in the immigration laws by permitting permanent partners of United States citizens and lawful permanent residents to obtain lawful permanent resident status in the same manner as spouses of citizens and lawful permanent residents and to penalize immigration fraud in connection with permanent partnerships."

If passed, gay people could sponsor their foreign-born partners for legal residency in the US. You can read the full text of the bill here.

Xenasgrrl: You might want to consider giving a call to your Senators and the Representative from your district asking for their support for the bill. Their staffers do keep track of constituent calls and they more they hear about an issue, the more attention they pay. Even if the bill doesn't pass this time, it's still a step in the right direction.
