Warrior Women *

Discovery Channel puts on the armour and plunges into history with lots of attitude and room to romp. Presented by Lucy Lawless, the star of the hugely successful, Xena Warrior Princess, the series uncovers the truth behind history's most charismatic female warriors.
Each one-hour episode provides a combination of historical sleuthing and provocative reconstruction. Lawless takes viewers through five films exploring ruins, revealing weapons, riding bareback and making a few cameos in battle, all to dig up the dirt on these legendary women. Shot on location in France, Ireland, Britain, China, and the United States, Warrior Women promises to bring viewers history with attitude!
The stories include: Boudica - the red-headed queen who almost brought the Roman Empire in Britain to its knees; Wang Cong'er - the real Mulan, who challenged the emperor of China in her search for justice; Joan of Arc - the 19-year-old girl who led the French to victory over the English, only to die at the stake; Grace O'Malley - the Irish pirate Queen, who mastered sail and sword and won the respect of Queen Elizabeth I; and Lozen - Apache warrior and Geronimo's right-hand woman, who claimed psychic skills and demonstrated a healthy thirst for revenge.
Spanning almost 2,000 years, Warrior Women investigates the gritty details of the life and times of each of these iconic heroines and celebrates the popular mythology that surrounds them. Lawless leaves Xena behind as she talks to historians and experts to find out more about the real lives of these true warrior women.
Set in the original, dramatic landscapes and exotic locations, viewers will find out more about the battles these remarkable women fought - and how they fought them - in this history series.
