As you may or may not know there is a fanfic challenge that started off in Shipper forum and has been opened up to All Ships. In the spirit of equality, Lady Kate suggested I post the challenge in Subtext Forum. So here it is:

Basically, it grew out of a (mostly critical) discussion of Soul Possession. The idea is to write a fic that picks up at the end of Sacrifice II and revises the canon storyline of how Gabrielle got out of the lava pit and was reunited with Xena. You can either substitute something else for Soul Possession and keep A Family Affair as canon (in which case the fic would fill the gap between Sac II and AFA), or come up with something entirely new and different. If you want, you can also use elements of SP but in revised form. Basically do whatever you want (the length is up to you). Obviously in the Shipper Talk challenge the idea was that the story should have a shipper twist, but then I thought it would be fun to open it up. So, I'm reposting it here with an invitation to write a fanfic with the same premise featuring the 'ship of your choice. Given the cast of characters, the obvious options (other than X/A and X/G) are Gabrielle/Joxer, Gabrielle/Ares, or Xena/Gabrielle/Ares. But the challenge, in the fine tradition of this forum, is open to all ships. If you want Xena/Argo to be the primary pairing, who am I to say no?

Anyway, I really hope this challenge finds some takers! We have some fine G/J and G/A writers here who I think can definitely do the story justice.

The suggested deadline is January 2. So, plug away!
