I wouldn't go as far as saying that violence never changed anything or is never the answer. I mean, look at the history of the world. If it weren't for
people willing to fight, we wouldn't have many (can I say: most) of the rights we have today.
Granted, this is another level of violence, and yes, attacking anti-gay folks won't change much on the long run, but I personally wouldn't lose my sleep over a few bigots getting a little street justice.
If the media want to trash the gay rights movement (or any other movement for that matter), they will always find a reason. Any reason. Sure, unreflected violence makes it easier for them, but I also believe that people generally aren't stupid and they won't swallow everything they read or see on TV. Yes, some people may go "Told you so", but others may go "Well done!"
The question is, which ones do you care about? The ones who hate you anyway, or the ones who sympathise with you and do well understand where the violence is coming from?
