Four Star General Posts: 4240 07/17/08 10:07 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I voted that I liked both shows. I own all of the Xena dvd sets, and the first 3 seasons for Charmed. I plan on getting the whole collection for Charmed. But I think the first 3 seasons of Charmed were my favorite. The latter half was alright too, but it got semi-weirder in the last seasons for me. wlfy

I'm right there with you, though. When I first started watching the show, (me being the spoiler fanatic I am) I already knew Prue's fate. So I was trying not to get too attached to her. That did not work, . She quickly became my favorite character. With Charmed, I never fell into a rhythm of assuming the stories were really happening. Right from the beginning, the setup with the book, and the demons, and the Power of Three...it just didn't feel "real" to me. It worked for what the story was; I just never believed in the bad guys' motivations or methods of doing things. People criticize Star Trek for making stuff up to get themselves out of tight spots, but that seemed much more evident on Charmed. So I watched it instead for the interactions between the sisters. Phoebe has one of my favorite lines: "Just because I protect the innocent doesn't mean I have to be one." Also, Piper's "Find gran, and summon her transparent a$$ here now" cracks me up even in the middle of a very sad episode. Oh, and the one where the demons orchestrate the three sisters fighting to break the Power of Three, but it works a little too well, and Phoebe goes to Cole crying her eyes out because she doesn't have anyone else, and Cole can't kill her? I think that episode is beautiful. So there are moments of magic for me, and I want to collect the first three seasons. Charmed doesn't compare to Xena, though. Not just for the usual reasons, but also because it is a story I can't really get lost in, you know?

I loved Charmed...I even cried on the last episode...what a way to end the series. I grew up watching new episode and ah...even though there were issues behind the scenes, I was always hoping Prue would make one last appearance... The whole sister thing...well it only made me realize how important family really is...but as for favorite....arg.. Xena is still number one on my list, Buffy and Charmed are close behind.

I tried to like that show but found it too sugary sweet. The premise of the witches was cool, but I had less than zero interest in their love lives. Also, the fact that their "light" or guide could heal any would ruined the potential for danger. Plus, the show felt too Hollywood. Everyone looked like a model rather than a real organic person. I think Shannon Dougherty even said that she left the show because she felt like it was silly.

As much as I am with Xena now. I'm not really into Charmed anymore, but I do tune into TNT occasionally and watch old episodes. But since I was at one point very in love with Charmed, I put both. However, now? I'd pick Xena over Charmed.

I also hated that Phoebe, the weakest sister, powers wise was made head witch and star of the show after Prue died. HMC is an amazing actress and should've been allowed to show this and become the star. The show was still good in S4 IMO, but after that, everything was sh!t.

I loved the first four seasons when the show was done with Connie Berge, the creator. Brad Kern just destroyed the show once she left, season 5-8 just wasn't Charmed. Once The Source died and Piper had kids it fall apart. Honestly how can you destroy the source of all evil, and still have more sources or Pipers kids be the most powerful witches, that completely ruins the first 4 seasons, where The charmed ones are the most powerful witches of all time. The first four seasons were gold. Once Connie and Shannen left, leaving the show with Brad and Alyssa didn't help. No offence to them, but Connie had better ideas for the show, Shannen made the show more mature and Prue wasn't running around for 3 seasons looking for her husband from her visions. The Sister relationship was better with Prue, Piper and Phoebe. Paige was great to the show, but the relationship wasn't there. Xena however was a better show, but I will admit the series final was much better at ending the show than Xena. But both Xena and Charmed were not so great towards the end, but Xena overall was a better show. But I still love Charmed.

I can't believe this one had 8 seasons, it's so cheap and inconsistent, and the acting was sooo bad (except for Holly Mary Combs though)

Commander Posts: 815 07/25/08 6:34 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	My alltime favorite will be Xena and that because of the leading ladies and the fact that it was filmed in NZ, my alltimes interested country. I followed charmed from the first season. The girls are good but...................it is not as Xena. I do miss something in their acting. Charmed is a nice relaxing show when there is nothing else exciting to watch. For Xena I was always impatient and hardly couldn`t wait until the next eps. That is something Charmed didn`t give.
