Agree 110%. As "consistent" as Buffy may be and as much as I think Buffy was the all-round better "produced" show, it still isn't my
favourite.
For all the mistakes made along the way, Xena still reigns supreme in my mind for the "best" overall show. Cheers. |

That's rough...I love Buffy. I think alot has to do with I've watched it for longer and own alot more Buffy items than anything else.
But darn...Xena is just so, well I love it as well. This is hard... So if I had to chose between watching a Buffy episode or a Xena episode...well that doesn't work either...no wait it does...Xena. And if someone where to ask me right out what is your favorite show....Xena all the way. But I still enjoy Buffy...that is an amazing show as well. Oh Xena Meets Buffy...talk about a movie...lol.

As someone's who's watched every ep of each show and own DVDs of each, I'd say Xena. I readily admit overall Buffy is the more polished of the two
shows, but IMO, one of the reasons may because they ripped off Xena and saw what worked & didn't work over there & fixed the kinks accordingly (No
one can convince me that Buffy's season 5 wasn't a clear ripoff of Xena's). Also when Xena was firing on all cylinders (Destiny, IOM, The Debts,
& The Sacs), it was much better than Buffy when it was firing on all cylinders (Becoming, Hush, The Gift, OMWF).

Hmm. I say Xena there were certain things about Buffy's Character that bugged me sometimes, and I never had an issue with Xena.

I love both shows
 and well ... sometimes I like them equally but... I'll have to say Buffy...
the effects used in Buffy are I think better certainly in the later seasons.. I also prefer the fighting scenes and the plots and that it is like kind of darker than Xena...but I do like both but like overall Buffy wins

Well, I've never joined a Buffy forum. So I'll go with Xe. Anyhow, it's interesting to see that there are currently 6 others here that prefer
Buffy. Shocked!

I was a *huge* fan of Buffy, and I guess I'm still a fan. My first steps on forums were on a Buffy one (then an Alias one, where I really discovered the
notion of fandom)
I haven't finished watching Xena yet, but there's one thing I can say : at season 4 I couldn't bear Buffy Summers anymore, I think she annoyed me quite early in the show, I wasn't watching for her anyway. I'm at the end of season 4 of Xena and the more I see her, the more I love her, I'm totally in the Xena team, whatever she does (yes, I didn't mind the Gabdrag). I watch XWP for Xena mostly (and X/A ).
Concerning the writing, I have to say Buffy was better, with storylines all along a season, the building of characters on several seasons with little hints sometimes that got their explanation later in the series, and well, Joss Whedon knew what he did. Maybe it's what I miss in XWP sometimes but at the same time when the plot get thickening in Xena, I'm totally in love with the show. So let's say I love both

Ok so I haven't read what everyone else wrote, but I personally voted that I love (lovelovelovelovelove) both shows equally and in different ways. When I
watch Xena, I love the strong women and the insane storylines and the action and everything, but what holds the show together is Xena and Gabrielle's love
(in a girlfriend way). In contrast, when I watch Buffy, it's the group of friends that I love, and their hilarious and witty lines, and then the action and
strong women and crazy storylines. Both shows are amazing in their own ways, imho.

Xena for sure...
I haven't watched much Buffy but I thought that the integrity of Xena was much higher than Buffy. The thought of Xena overcoming her inner darkness and moving towards the light...thats what drew me to Xena. That and the subtext!! Gabs |

Buffy is actually darker sometimes, but I am not very interested on a Teenager who runs after demons or vampires, not my kind of thing
