Thanks, LK! Hey, ae, New Mexico at the higher elevations was a lot cooler, true. But here outside of Austin TX, it's in the lower 100's and humid! Ugh! I got used to feeling dry and baked! Here are just a few photos from yesterday's drive while Abby Dawg and I were racing a big ol' storm...and the storm was winnin'! Argh! I couldn't find a motel room (all the construction workers beat us to it) and ended up driving from Santa Rosa NM to San Antonio TX, stoppin' to fill up the tank, take photos, then jumpin' back in the car and floorin' it to get outta there. I did get to sleep for an hour and ten minutes at a rest area somewhere in Texas. But Abby woke me up when the storm caught up with us again and was putting on quite the light show. That dawg really hates storms. She didn't complain much that day about all the drivin'. She was more than glad to get away from that huge dark scary cloud.



After I drove up and over the exit ramp, after getting the stormy sunset photos, I discovered the waxing gibbous moon rising over an otherworldly landscape. Is that a hill? Or an ancient pyramid in the Texas desert?



I was near the Alamo when I snapped this photo of the sunrise over San Antonio TX. The Alamo itself faces the opposite direction, so it was in shadow at sunrise. And the frakkin' city has built up all around it. San Antonio, what can I say? It's...big. And torn up and under construction. May I just say that the entire country is frakkin' torn up and under frakkin' construction? And all the roads in the country FRAKKIN' SUCK! I'd gotten used to driving through wide open spaces, desert landscapes, open range. The city, any city, after all that openness and freedom, is a harsh and jangling experience. I couldn't even stay in the city tonight. I had to get out of it before I could think about getting a room.



And, okay, I'm a moron. I thought this frakkin' owl was real and I took photos of it. Whatta dork, huh? Sorry I woke you up to tell you about the owl, Lilamazon. Gods. No wonder Abby Dawg kept walkin' away from me, pretendin' she didn't know me. Tsk tsk, whatta frakkin' dork.

Yes, I am and I knew you would see that and my phone would ring and...you did and it did and we'll try to get together this weekend after I get some stuff taken care of. Stuff like, getting the windshield fixed, getting some sleep, getting an allergy shot for Abby Dawg, getting some sleep, getting a cortisone shot for me, getting some sleep. Did i mention sleep?

Hey, Woofy I fell in love with the murals in that little town. And the people. Gallup is in Navajo country (which includes Arizona, Utah and NM) and it's beautiful. I think the land has affected them the way it affected me. Makes you want to Walk the Beauty Way. I am going back in the fall when it won't be so hot. I want to see more, experience more. See the dances, hear stories and music. I just have to remember to sumpin about the altitude sickness. I felt like I had a hangover the whole time I was there. And I didn't have a drop of alcohol either. Unh uh, did not!
