ehehe Ok, guess I better post again. Elsie seems to want me to stop lurking. ehehe

So! We had a great time. It started out a little comical. ehehe Candid called me just before she got to Kingman to make sure she was on the right road. ehehe She kept telling me these road names as she past them, and of course, I didn't recognize any of them. I had out my atlas and was hoping she would eventually come up with a name that was on the map.

Hurray! She mentioned Golden Valley! That put her about 20 miles north of Kingman. So I told her to be sure and stick with 93, even when it combined with I 40. ehehe Thought I had her on track. I get another call from her and she is confused because somehow she spotted a sign about highway 71 ending and she remembered she needed to turn onto 71 when she got close to me. Very confusing when she knew she was still about 100 miles away. Anyway I talked her through until she turned off I 40 and was on 93 headed straight south. But in the process she determined that she would be later than expected when she gets here. No problem.

See, the ones coming up from Mesa were not expected until about 10:30. Elsie needed to be in Congress to attend church services at 9. I had no idea how long she would be in church. Well, at about 10:30 I got a phone call from Elsie. They were in Congress, but they went through the town and were now headed out into the "wide open spaces". LOL Outta town and into the desert. ehehe So, I told them to head back to town. When they got there they needed to go to the gas station on highway 89. Then I waited.

I got another call from Elsie and they arrived at the gas station and the Family Dollar store. So I got them headed onto highway 71 and talked them all the way to my house.

Well, Bama, Elsie and Wlfeyes were the ones that came up from Mesa. We got settled in my living room to wait for Candid. From my last phone call, I estimated that she might be here by 11 AM. She actually arrived about 10 minutes after I said that, at 10:45. ehehe

Then we all kinda sat around chatting for awhile. Finally we were headed out the door to go see my horses. Pete was the only person home when we got there. After making introductions between the women and Pete, I when took everyone out to the horse barn. It was already apparent that this day was a FIREBALL HOT day. But I got Magic out of her pasture and started cleaning her up. They all did come up and take a few pictures and pet her. She behaved really good.

Then Candid wanted to go on the other side of the barn so that she could use a patch of particularly blue sky as background. Naturally, Magic had to get a little excited, because she hadn't been taken to that part of the property for a long time. ehehe Then she had to get a little strong-willed about moving around instead of standing and posing. ehehe But Candid was really patient and snapped the shots as quick as she could. The trick was to get the shot before Magic moved. LOL Meantime, Bama and Elsie opted to stay under cover in a patch of shade. Wlfeyes joined Candid, Magic and me to snap a few of her own pictures. Wlfeyes was just so sweet. ehehe She was so focused on Magic and it was obvious that she loved horses as much as I do.

Then I took Magic back to the hitching rail and got Junior out. We went back to the same spot for posing. When Wlfeyes got a first look at Junior, it was all over! She fell in love with him in an instant. I actually heard her say a really quiet "ohmyGod." Then a "ohbeautiful". ehehe So, Candid took several shots of Junior. He was a bit more calm than his mother. Then Candid stepped over to the shade from the hay barn to check her shots.

That is when I told Wlfeyes to go ahead and pet Junior. It was amazing to see the bond that instantly formed between them. Then Candid came back and took some pictures of Junior and Wlfeyes. See, the thing is that Wlfeyes is extremely shy and introverted. When she was focused on Junior you could see her opening up. I even handed the lead rope to Wlfeyes. She was just so natural with him and he gave her not a lick of trouble. She actually smiled at the horse and in the camera. Candid caught it all.

By this time everyone was overheated and hungry. So I put the horses up and we headed for Wickenburg for hamburgers. And talked. And talked. And drank cokes and water and iced tea. And talked.

Finally we headed back to my house. The conversations continued to flow so naturally. After a few hours, it was time to find dinner. So we all headed back to Wickenburg and the Denny's restaurant. It was now about 8 PM. There weren't very many people in Denny's and that was a very good thing. Everyone was cracking jokes and making a few innuendos. The waitress got in on the fun, too. ehehe We all had a good meal. Then it was finally time to split and go home. Bama, Elsie and Wlfeyes headed back to Mesa and Candid returned home with me.

Candid and I stayed up for another hour or so looking at the pictures she had taken. Then we talked a bit about computers. By this time I couldn't stop yawning and she was having a hard time keeping her eyes open so she settled into the little quest room and me into my little bedroom. ehehe Someday I will have a large Masterbedroom. WHAT! I can dream it if I want! LOL

The next morning I got up and let Candid sleep for a little while longer. Then we both had breakfast and headed back out to the horses. She took some nice pictures of the other horses around the place. Then we returned back to my place and she prepared to head back to Las Vegas.

Over all it was a very good gathering. I did enjoy how everyone just blended in together. I am really glad they all had fun, even if it was REALLY HOT!!! LOL

Those are just to cute for words! ehehe Love Abby and the Tortoise. Someday I need to get down to Casa Grande. Can you believe, I have lived in this state since 1973 and never checked out Casa Grande or Coolidge or the ruins. Shame on me.
