I fully understand this happens but it is usually because of the music companies. I have never actually heard of universal doing it, but that is exactly who has decided to block my 'Run:Right beside you' video in the United States, this is consequently my first video. This worry's me about the future of not just my videos, but many Xena music videos. It would be such a shame for them to destroy what is a very large community, which is by the large promoting the show. Afterall I bought the DVD's, and some of them I bought just to make music video's. I understand that we are infringing copyright, but we're also supporting the show. Tis a sad day, indeed. If anybody else has any similar stories, I'd like to hear! Theyre more on it than universal I think. But the whole copyright thing can also be done by a user. If I tell youtube that youre in violation of the copyright rules theyll block the vid they dont check it tht good. I once let a user be blocked who stole my vid and just put other music under it but the entire vid was the same. I dont think we need to fear for our future, theres so much vids around they can never block it. 90% of youtube is made out of fanvids so I have noclue how they wanna pull that off:) The lush's misfit slave \| My music vids \| My art \| My Band \|

Was this an actual complaint from Universal, or YouTube randomly enforcing the blocking because of automatic detection of copyrighted material? It's really pretty bizarre... I've seen several people here on XOC who have said that they have gotten into X:WP after coming across Xena music videos on YouTube (and gone on to buy the DVDs). It's also bizarre that Creation Entertainment promotes videomaking by fans through the competitions at the conventions, and then the videomakers are hassled over copyright infringement. I made a video last week, that wont show up for people... NBC and Universal blocked it... It has also happened to 4 other videos of mine all blocked by NBC universal... I think this may be the end of the videos... At least I'm frustrated enough that I do not even see the point in making them anymore... its like they are choosing random videos to block ~In a world where you can be anything, be yourself~

Aww barab, well I'm in the U.K so I can still view a lot of videos - as for some reason they're only applying it to the USA at the moment! But I think Tinka... or Smutterly, one of those two? Got some video's blocked a while back as well. And Ladykate thats another good point! Creation promote it... I mean do they have some kind of license to play them? But than other vids that are non XWP but are under Universal rights should have trouble right? I just had it once but than it was Showtime that made the block. "keep 'em short. the copyright identification programme that youtube uses basically takes a fingerprint of the material they want to monitor. at this stage i've managed to not have any more identified for xena footage by keeping the clips short so they can't be picked up on... yet anyway. i got busted last time with my xena horror one for using a long uninterupted clip of the prodigal so yeah... i dunno if this helps, but i've been sweet ever since." There was a one minute uninterrupted clip at the end of run, so cut short party people!
