1) There must be no personal slams, insults, or attacks against other posters even within the game. Other verbal sparring is permitted as long as it is clearly in game. i.e. It's okay for an XTW member to call the PLA brain-dead but not to call an individual PLA'er brain-dead. Or, if a PLA or AoC person says, "This is typical of the XTW and thier sneaky tactics" that's fine, but "this is typical of you and your sneaky tactics" is not unless it's clearly teasing/banter.
2) It is absolutely forbidden to use an opponent's real-life situation (such as work, relationship, or health problems) as a basis for a taunt in the game, or knowingly and deliberately take advantage of such a situation to score against an "incapacitated" opponent. It is equally forbidden to use one's own real-life situation (or that of someone on one's own side) to play a "sympathy card" in the game or to accuse an opponent of an unfair attack.
3) Players can receive forum-specific warnings for breaking the rules of the game (separate from reprimands/warnings for violating XOC rules). If a person receives three forum-specific warnings, they will be suspended from the game for a month. If they return to the game and break the rules again, they will be banned from the game and the ASG forum.
4) Getting offended will be treated as a part of the game, unless a TIME-OUT is called. To stop the game because you are offended for real, say TIME-OUT on that thread. After a TIME-OUT has been called all parties stop all warfaring and await further instructions from the Moderators.
5) The whole point of the game is not to hurt each other for real, but to find new and improved ways to annoy and irritate the enemy in a playful way and prove your superiority to them. If a person is offended "for real" but doesn't want to call a time out, they can make a post that opens with the bolded words OUT OF GAME, stating that they don't like the direction the banter is taking and would like to move on.
Example:
OUT OF GAME: Sorry, but that last comment is bugging me for real. Can we please move to something else?
