The Ares we saw in H:TLJ (aside from The Hind arc as LK pointed out) was just comedic fodder. I love Kevin Smith's comedic skills no doubt, but in terms of character and how I like seeing said character behave, I prefer Ares the way he was on X:WP.

I thought he should have appeared on Xena more often. I picked him mainly because I enjoyed his quests for profit and he was centrally a Herc. character. Most of the others made more appearances on both shows. Aphrodite would be my 2nd choice, then strife, then discord, then autolycus I think. Click here to feed hungry abandoned dogs, for free.
