Well, I'm biased of course -- I recommend The Shipper Seasons, on which I work. We're up to Season 10 now (the premiere will "air" on June 1), which will also be our last. (All good things have to come to an end at some point. ) Despite the title, it's definitely not "all Xena/Ares, all the time" -- we try to stick to the spirit of the show, and while we obviously play up the X/A storyline more, Xena's redemption, the Greater Good, and the friendship between X & G are still the central theme of the series. A lot of our "viewers" are not shippers and some are even subtexters. I might add that it's also the only VS which is still "on the air," so to speak, though this is partly due to the fact that especially during S9, we were on a pretty irregular schedule with gaps of a month and more between episodes.

The other two main virtual seasons are the general Xena: Warrior Princess Virtual Season (XWPVS), which last for two seasons (S7 & 8) and the XWP Subtext Virtual Season, which ended after Season 10 (but may still do a few "movies"). The XWPVS is probably the closest to the spirit of the show in that it preserves the ambiguous balance of the different relationships on the series. The Subtext VS is the only one that has the distinction of being co-written by a writer who actually wrote for the show, Melissa Good. I can't really say much about them because I've only read a few episodes of each -- for one thing because I work on a virtual season, I don't want to be influenced by other VS series.

There also used to be two other very interesting virtual post-FIN spinoffs. "Tales of the Warrior", produced and co-written by our very own Jenn (xwpweb), is focused on Gabrielle and Eve (this is a version in which Xena does not come back after FIN). "Hedda: Defender of Olympus," written by fanfic writer Arianwen F. W. Everett, is centered on an original character, Hedda (the offspring of a liaison between Ares and Conqueror Xena, conceived during Ares' sojourn in a parallel world but raised in "our" world after the Conqueror was killed) but also involving Gabrielle, Eve, and Ares. Unfortunately both are not only "off the air" but offline at this point, though Jenn and I are hoping to put up a virtual season archive on XWPOnline.
