I believe rooms do fill up as it gets closer to the time if you want to stay in the hotel where the convention is. I know that when I booked last time, I was having issues with not being able to get a room in the convention hotel when I tried to book a month or so in advance. I just want to make sure that I do get that spot. And becuase I don't have to pay until I actually arrive, then it is easy to book in advance. If you go with the normal room rate, then you can book early and still have a chance to cancel and get a refund in case something comes up closer to the convention date.

Hey Jenn, did you say that you already booked your room through the hotel website with the convention code? I was trying it out just now and you're right, the rate does skyrocket come Monday night! Did you book Thursday night through Monday night with the convention code? Because I tried that out to see if it could be done and the website says that the group rate isn't applied to those dates (that includes Monday night). But you can do it without the code and pay $233 a night (that's a serious price jump).

I think I'm just going to book normally without the code and pay the $125 a night. I don't plan on staying Monday night. The convention special also doesn't list all of the cancellation policies like the normal room rates do so if I book with the con rate, I'll want to ask if the normal cancellation policies apply.
