totally sucked. If you aren't a fan and like watching bio pics then I guess it's ok but if your a diehard Celine fan it was sooo inaccurate that
it's not even funny, I was yelling at the tv the whole time. It just agravates me to no end when they make these movies that they can't even have the
decency to follow the timeline, the Meat Loaf bio pic was the same way. I mean really how hard is it to say oh that song came out in insert year and this is
what happen instead of having a very popular song that hit in 99 and say oh that was the year this happened when it actually happened five years prior.
Arggggggh, sorry just had to rant it just very annoying when they do that.

I actually caught part of it, and not being a "fan" fan - i.e. I think she's very talented and attractive, but I don't listen to the stations
that play her music, so I mainly know her from the movie soundtracks she's done, and awards shows - it seemed like an adequate, generic tv bio movie. Very
similar to the big-screen Selena movie in fact, or the bios of Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Richie Valens, etc that I have seen.
But even I noticed something that seemed "off" - I seem to recall reading that her first albums were in French, and that she didn't really even become fluent in English until she was a teenager, for her career. But then 50 minutes of sub-titles might have been a stretch. |

They did get the surface stuff right but it was the little things like the years they said some of the songs came out and the biggest was the fact that her
and Rene got married in 94 but in the movie she got offered the Titanic song before they got married and they had the baby 2 or 3 years after that song became
a hit. To be honest it's me mostly being a dork and since Celine is one of my obsessions lol I know way more than I should about her life and career (kinda
like Lucy

Yep, I was sort of like that with the 3 Stooges bio movie - Marton Csokas had a nice little supporting role as their original boss/mentor, but the real-life
guy looked more like Falafel than Borias.
Real life unfortunately sometimes isn't quite as dramatic as drama can be, and so sometimes they have to take liberties just for the sake of storytelling. The upside is that I have a much more positive (if inaccurate) view of Celine now - not that it was ever negative - and am very sympathetic to the rough spots in her life, and am impressed at how her raw talent has made all the difference all along. |
