I was going through some screencaps just now and noticed this.
After the X, is that a lip printed kiss!!?? Looks like it to me.

I definitely say that is positively a kiss.
Or i'd like to think it is instead of ink smudges.

Ha. I never noticed that before. The texuture of the ink looks like a print. Looks like lips. Pretty wide gap though between the top and bottom. Maybe it was
an open mouth kiss!

yeah, definitely a kiss. An odd looking kind of kiss, but a kiss nonetheless.

Yes its a kiss...i thought it was pretty well known and discussed that it was indeed Xenas lips (a kiss) at the end of that letter. Ya know...like we all do to
our friends letters.

I like to think of it as the "good-bye" kiss Xena couldn't stand to give Gabrielle (knowing she [Xena] was going on a life-threatening mission)
because it was too much of a heartbreaking reality for her to face. so yah, definitely a kiss print. I always thought it was a kiss, even as a casual viewer
before I got into the subtext and stuff...do people seriously think it's just ink smudges? Isn't it a little too strategically shaped/placed/faded to
be ink smudges?!

Kiss mark. No question.
When the episode first aired I was super anxious to rewind my
tape recording so that I could confirm what I had just seen  . I started screaming "Oh
My God! She signed it with a kiss! She signed it with a kiss!" ...until someone told me to "shhhh" .
lol, I always wondered how Xena got the ink off of her lips afterward. She was probably styling with black lipstick for the rest of the morning. but it was worth it!
