Aha - Damon and Carlton confirmed it in the podcast - they thought it would be very obvious that Aaron was one of the six, but realized once the ep aired that a lot of people weren't sure if he "counted" or not, or if that even really was Aaron. So they allowed the ABC marketing people to use the "tease" so that people might think both Jin and Sun made it off the island, and then they showed Aaron in the commercial for the late April episode so that it was clear.

They crack me up - they did this quick Q&A, somewhat tongue-in-cheek, answering vital questions about the nature of various apparitions on the island:

Ben's mother = apparition
Sawyer's wild boar = animal
Spider = the monster
Hurley's bird=no comment
Dave = apparation/imagination
Yemi = the monster
Kate's horse = undead (I'm pretty sure they were kidding here)
Mikail's Cat (named Nadia) = animal
Walt = some have been apparitions, some have been the monster
Boone in Locke's dream = dream

Totally freaky, and I need to re-watch it all the way through at least one more time before I thoroughly "get" everything that happened. Soooo sad to see Alex get killed, presumably for good. Guessing that since this was the first ep to be filmed after the WGA strike, they sort of sped everything up in order to squeeze in as much action as they could and still finish up the season by the end of May. This is, as far as I can remember, the very first time that they have skipped over something fairly significant that we assumed we would see, i.e. the mercenary guys getting off the boat and making it to the island, presumably madness/time-shift-free. I'm sure we will see it in a recent-flashback in a few weeks...but always in the past, when we were seeing something from a main character's POV (i.e. Desmond, Michael and Sayid) we never got anything left out.
