Hubby and I stumbled a few weeks ago onto an Independent horror film from 2006 called "Salvage."

Disturbing is the best word for it, rather than Horrifying.
There are slasher scenes, but they serve as brief exclamation points to the growing "realization" type of terror for the lead - a college age young lass who seemingly is reliving her last days, most notably the day she was murdered.

It goes back and forth - she keeps waking up in her late night job where she's fallen asleep as a cashier at a convenience store, thinking she'd just dreamed of being killed, only to have the "real" day progress again into her murder and its lead-up.

A true twist for the ender makes it very satisfying, but it is something we had to stomach through, since this poor victim seems to get increasingly less and less enthusiastic help from friends, law enforcement, and family,
and at one point the killer cuts around her face and, yep -rips it off as she's pleading.
It's so incredibly frustrating to see her not getting help, and having to piece together clues all while being pursued.

But I tell you - the surprise ending, along with realizing yourself as the viewer exactly what the victim is realizing, going back to all she's learned to that point - AWESOME!
