I love Shipper Season reviews! Thanks Drawing Blood!!! I'll comment on some of my episodes.

-I didn't think Artemis had a good point when she called Gabrielle on not being a proper queen to the Amazons. I thought Gabrielle made it clear that she never intended to stay with the Amazons often, whereas Artemis was supposed to guide the Amazons and help them.

Yeah but I'm sure it was a good point for some of the Amazons. I am sure there are a lot of Amazons that feel that Gabrielle should be their Queen and has abandoned them. I mean at the beginning of Season 8 she was serving as Amazon Queen until she passed the torch down to Eve (who had very little experience) and then left with Xena once again. So I think it was a valid argument on her part even though its kind of like calling the kettle black, since Artemis isn't Patron Goddess of the Year or anything.

-So at the end Demeter appears to her daughter as a ghost. Does that mean dead gods are no longer sent to Hell? And did Artemis die at the end or did she still have enough power left to retreat?

All will be answered.

-When Xena, Gabrielle, and Eve were leaving the tribe after the fight with Artemis, why didn't they take Klymene along? Surely they knew that she wouldn't be treated properly by Artemis and Morai?

Well I think Klymene tried to come with them, and then Morai threatened her. At that point, Xena wasn't just going to leave the Amazons with Artemis and that was an issue that her and Gabrielle discuss later about how to make sure Klymene, Antiope, Cyane, and other Amazon friends are going to be safe.


On to The Outlaws...

-Nice use of flashbacks. It made the episode different from others this season.

Thanks. Its good to know that it actually worked out. It was a concept that would have been played out better on screen, but I think it really helped with the pace of the episode by starting towards the end, then working towards building up the beginning of the story until they meet at a common point. Luckily, it didn't become too confusing.

-I'm glad to see that Xena and Ares didn't forget about the Twilight 2.0. If this were an actual episode of the show I think TPTB would probably have not mentioned it and focused solely on Andromache's tribe. I think it was best that T2.0 was mentioned sparingly instead of advanced further in this episode; both plots would have been a bit much to handle.

Yeah I am glad this episode got to focus with the Twilight aspects and also some X/A tensions and the Amazons. I felt like it was a nice balance.

-Speaking of Andromache, she sounds like someone who would have gotten along with Varia. I wonder if Varia ever considered travelling with Andromache . . .?

Yeah she probably would have appealed to Varia. I guess how it can be justified is that Varia had become Marga's mentor and Andromache was against Marga. So if Varia were to side with Andromache she would be betraying not only her Queen, but her mentor.

One other thing about 'The Outlaws': why didn't Ares try to find out more information about the Amazon problem before the battle? Even though he needed Melodic's army to worship him, I would think he'd be cautious about letting an army try to kill people that were so close to Xena.

Well its been a while since I wrote this episode, so I might not have all of the details correct. Here is my thought process: Ares needed worship pretty badly...so he jumped at the offer. When he found out that it was the Amazons he realized it wasn't going to work out. Then he realized the Amazons were being attacked by a renegade tribe. King Melodic said if Ares helped him defeat the blessing they would worship him. With these two pieces of information Ares formed the plan that he would side with Melodic, he would get Xena and the Amazons to retreat allowing the renegades to take the city, then Melodic would attack the renegades (thinking they are the Amazons). Ares would get the worship and Xena would relocate the Amazons somewhere else. Its funny because coming up with a plan like that is something Xena would try and pull off, and you can imagine Ares wouldn't be too happy if all of a sudden Xena jumps in and ruins his plan. I mean if this was the old days it wouldn't be a big deal. But now, not only do they have a closer relationship, but this is survival for Ares. And it just kind of adds to the tension between them. Ares takes the time to formulate his plan around protecting Xena and the Amazons, but Xena doesn't really seem to take him into consideration much. So I think these last two episodes the audience is going to be more likely to side with Ares.
