As for the question, I've always thought that somehting happened between them b/w YAT and POV... somehow their relationship changed. I kind of like the idea of Ares remaining faceless for EX, having a God/Adept kind of relationship that turned out to be not enough for either of them - and then everything changing once Ares had to fight for what was "his" and Xena having to face that temptation (literally ). Hey, that even explains The Reckoning...! I really saw a pretty major turning point in TTTB, when Ares had not only the chance but the opportunity (even an invitation) to kill Xena, something he had (according to canon) been wanting to do since the Hercules trilogy. He couldn't, and he seemed somewhat unpleasantly surprised by the fact. I didn't read that as a scorned lover - that was all "God-defied!". Just my POV.

I think that's the only thing that makes his physical brutality toward Xena in TTB palatable -- it's not really abuse in a relationship, it's a god striking out at a warrior who has defied him. Not sure I agree about a "God/Adept" relationship between an invisible Ares and Xena. It certainly doesn't sound like that from the way they discuss their past in The Dirty Half Dozen. Oh, and .... One Star General Posts: 1441 (05/14/08 11:36 PM) One Star General Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	i voted that i'm not sure and i've changed my mind a few times. my initial instinct was that her and ares did have sex, but while she was a warlord. like aurora said on teh first page, she was a very sexual being adn i could not imagine her not having sex with ares, especially ares. wheni first saw the interaction between the two, the connection and attraction was so strong that i figured they had to have a sexual past. whether they went all the way or not is another thing. yet when i think more in depth about it (and trust me, i do), i keep changing my mind. ares seems so set on being with her (physically since the beginning) that it would seem as if he did not get to experience being with her. man, if only we knew.. at least we have eternal bonds to etertain us with the thought Katerina
