If ya live in the U.S., don't forget the time change! |

That's right! Here in the U.S., we're under the misguided notion that moving the time change up a couple of weeks (and later in the fall), will reduce
energy spending. (Word of note, hasn't help us here in Indiana, one bit. Consumption actually has gone up since obeying DST in 2006.)

I read this and thought "Time change? What time change?"

No Xena, No Xenaverse! "I wanna talk to you" "The last time we spoke Mr. Smith you reduced me to tears, I can promise you I won't allow that to happen again." Thanks goes out to Trancegem for the nametag, and to a whole bunch of lovelies for the userbar. |

I always have mixed feelings about DST starting. On the one hand, its great to have the extra hour of sunlight at the end of the day but on the other hand, it
just KILLS me to have to give up an hour of my weekend!

i don't like the extra hour of daylight. why? because if you go to New York and at 9pm, it's dark. you come here to indiana at 9pm, it's still
light out. it freaks people out.

Or if you come to Alaska at 3am it's just as light out as it is a 3pm...
Thanks for the reminder |

Do people in other countries (like Europe) have something similar to the time change that we do in the USA twice a year? I've always been curious about
that.
It seems like a strange concept to me. I think I'd rather just go without changing the time.

Aurora:
That's been the main point for many Hoosiers. It's a dumb concept. It hasn't helped the state out since observing DST. (Though, they've now found I believe that our state does more business with Chicago and the western US than the eastern US, yet the majority of the state is on Eastern.) So Rep (R) Upton of Michigan says that there's reduced crime (which is a false statement because the crime just happens at another time) and accidents (partially true, however there are more accidents in morning involving buses in some areas) and there's the reduce energy consumption. In the case of Indiana, it's actually increased because the state for the most part is agricultural. If you're not using it at night, you're using it morning when you're getting... Jenn |
