At XOC, we pride ourselves on having mutual respect for each other's points of view. Ridiculing fellow board members is never acceptable in any forum;
therefore, mocking others' views that conflict with the subtext interpretation isn't acceptable in Subtext Zone. This includes calling shippers (any
non-X/G 'ship, for lack of a broader term) "blind," "ignorant," "in denial," etc. The same applies to Shipper Talk and
opinions about subtext. Everyone is entitled to disagree, of course, but name-calling or insulting someone else's intelligence is in violation of
XOC rules.
Subtext Zone exists so that people who hold the view that Xena and Gabrielle had a romantic relationship can enjoy and discuss the facets of that relationship without having to defend against contradictory interpretations. Talking about how right we are and how wrong everyone else is, however, is not appropriate for this forum. People are drawn to different relationships for different reasons, so stepping on the toes of someone else's point of view can be very personal.
Also keep in mind that sometimes shippers aren't just shippers, but friends of subtexters; shippers aren't always the only ones who take offense.
