Aw, thanks for tryin', though. And I'll definitely have to check out PoS. I got it downloaded. But, yes, I was warned that ending "begs for a sequel". LOL

ETA: OMG, yes, "Destiny Conquered"!!!!!!!! It's still my all time favorite. I've been itching to read it again, actually. Will probaby give in to temptation soon. There's so much I love about that fic, I've been meaning for a long time to write a detailed analysis/feedback on it. Must do that...

It's not your typical Conqueror fic (you will see what I mean). It is also quite dark, though it doesn't have any graphic violence to the best of my recollection.

Ooh, I remember you reccing "Shattered" before. I think I downloaded it but haven't read it yet. Will have to check it out.

Also, I have no problem with graphic violence, but I'm not overly fond of character death fic (of Xena or Gabrielle). I actually like a Conqueror Xena who's likely at any moment to flip a dagger out of her sleeve and slice someone's throat because they offended her.

And yes, "Conquered" is quite good. I always adore Leslie (she's a good RL friend:)). Her Stargate fic "Knife's Edge of Madness" is one of my top favorites. (I actually got her permission to write a sequel to "Conquered", and we did some plot brainstorming together, but I haven't made any real progress on it yet...maybe someday:))

Yeah, you keep saying that, but I keep choking on that "death of" part. LOL

I have to say I'm a little disappointed there isn't more shipper or bitexter Conqueror fanfic out there -- the possibilities certainly seem ripe!

I actually toyed for ages with an idea (Xena and mortal Ares, in S6, are thrown into a parallel universe in which Xena is the ruler of the known world, where they find themselves separated and Ares ends up in the clutches of Conqueror Xena while Xena seeks out the alternate world's Gabrielle) that we finally used in altered form in the shipper virtual season, in a two-parter I co-wrote with Sais2Cool and Aurora Goddess. If you aren't put off by the script format, you might want to check these out:

I might still write the fic some day -- who knows. I think these eps turned out pretty well, but there's one important difference from my original concept, because of where we were in the Shipper VS at that point -- in the VS, Xena and Ares are together as a couple (well, an on-and-off couple, but "on" at the moment). My story was going to take part in S6, and a major focus of it was going to be the idea that Ares finally "gets" Xena, but it's not quite "his" Xena (not to mention one who could always wake up one morning and decide to torture him to death for any number of reasons ). In this version, that was lost, and we had to grapple with the problem of Ares being unfaithful to Xena while they're together -- though it does raise the rather intriguing question of, "Is it infidelity if you have sex with your lover's double from a parallel world?"
