Figured I'd start up a new fic hunter's thread, since the old one seems rather to have disappeared into the ether...
I'm actually looking for two.
The first is a drama/romance, author unknown wherein Xena is the latest in a line of women throughout the centuries to bear the piece of Ares' soul that would prevent his being an effective GoW. In other words,
she is caretaker of his "soft side," as it were.
Ares also knows he's been drawn to no other Bearer like he has to her, and indeed part of the narrative is his thoughts about how different she is and how important she is to him. The two eventually fall in love and it's very romantic and poetic at the end.
The second is a "domestic"/slice-of-life/humor fic in the vein of Briar's series. Indeed my initial thought was that this *was* a Briar!fic and I just needed to get the cobwebs dusted out of my memory! Been a while since i read it... (It may yet be discovered that this *is* a Briar!fic and I was right all along and just didn't search deep enough. So be it. Whether I'm right or I'm wrong i hope to find the fic, all the same!)
It involved a Joxer/Gabrielle romantic-friendship subplot, so I was also thinking it could be a Nancy!fic, but hers are all epics. At any rate, Xena is off being a hero as usual, and she and Ares have to endure that forced separation while both do their jobs, etc.. The one primary detail that stuck out to me was that it was the first story I'd read that I read with Xena expressing passion <*ahem*> through a warcry.
It was this amusing little anecdote that stuck with me even after all the other details had faded.

"Ares' Curse," by Silk, and it's wonderful! I also recommend the sequel, "Ares' Chosen".)

Like, because she's done with that chapter in her life or something. I really don't get it.
