Now lets begin out active Buffy chat.
I'd like to know what are your favorite and least favorite characters other than Buffy herself. My List: Like: Willow Giles Anya Dawn- only because I can relate to her, and she was infact the same age I was when the show was on. Dislike: Riley Drusilla Spike - I'm starting to dislike him now, I hated him alot in season 6, but I'll try and see if this hate can go. _________________________________________________________________

I treasure the character of Giles.
I found him enormously deep and compassionate yet imperfect. A worthy mentor, played flawlessly by such a gifted actor who wove humor in at exactly the right places and never showed any contempt in his performances for the sometimes outlandish material and scenes he was asked to do. His relationship with his slayer hooked me into the show more so than any other element. I dare say SMG benefitted from working opposite him all those years - I bet she learned an enormous amount from him. A huge honorable mention for me would be Andrew! Of the trio, he was the most adorable, the funniest and the most pathetic. And the best actor probably. Getting him to come back for so much of the last season was like Christmas morning for me! His pipe and smoking jacket! !!! !!!Plus, he shares my affinity for Timothy Dalton's Bond. So he was the smartest too. Least Favorite -- Well, they all have their place and I don't really actively dislike any, but if you'd ask me which characters I'l pick last to see reruns of their scenes, it'd be Anya first, followed by Dawn. Adam was probably the weakest Season long villian - I was underwhelmed by that arc, but still - I'd watch those reruns instead of, say, reality TV any second of the day. ![]() "I'm merely responding to that dark part of me that has a weakness for bad boys." |

Thinking about Spike, it's the same as Callisto with me - Loved 'em when they're uber-evil, got bored and eventually disliked them when they did the whole 'good' thing. And they both had bleached hair...strange coincidences ^_^
With most of the characters, I liked them less as the series progressed. I thought Oz's character was just slaughtered, but I still love him! Giles I loved all the way through too. ~Beka~ |

Yay, a sticky Buffy thread! Thanks!
My favorite characters include most of the evil vampires: Drusilla, Darla, evil Spike and Angelus. Oh and of course vampire Willow and Xander! From the guys who are actually alive I really like Tara and Willow (both individually and together), Giles and Faith. I have learned to like Riley too, at least the season 4 Riley, but I guess it's probably because I'm getting very desperate being single and Riley is pretty much what I would like a boyfriend to be. Who I don't like.. I totally agree with you Beka. Why do they have to change great evil characters into so dull and stupid good characters..? So yeah, I don't like the good Spike either. Dawn and Anya make their way to my list too.

By the way....
a very happy 52nd birthday to Tony Head, aka Giles! From his imdb bio: Anthony Stewart Head was born on February 20, 1954 in Camden Town, North London, England. He grew up in Hampton, which was near London.... He has an older brother named Murray Head (an actor and singer who had a hit with "One Night in Bangkok.") Head has a girlfriend, named Sarah Fisher (theyve been living together for the past 15 years). They met each other when he was 28 and she was 18. Shes a former theatre administrator, but nowadays shes an animal trainer. They have two daughters, named Emily Rose (born 1989) and Daisy May (born 1991)..... Appeared in a series of popular Nescafe Gold Blend coffee adverts in the UK in the 1980s. The adverts were re-edited for broadcast in the US where the coffee is known as Tasters Choice.... His own home in Somerset which he shares with Sarah, Daisy and Emily was used for the filming of some episodes of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". Once played Dr. Frank N Furter in a London stage production of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show". He met his partner, Sarah, at the National Theatre in England. He was performing in Dantons Death. ..... In other news, Eliza Dushku has at last made the front page of the NY Post .... Also, in case anyone is looking for some previous discussion... I really found David Boreanz's Angelus lacking.
I enjoyed Angelus' past history storyline, I really liked all the flashback episodes of the foursome's heyday cutting a swath across Asia and Europe, but specifcally his performances I was not impressed with. Much like I didn't buy Kevin Sorbo's turn as The Sovereign; neither can play an entirely convincing "horrid" soul. joxerfan -- I can't find the news that goes with that Dushku front page pic you linked -- what is the story? ![]() "I'm merely responding to that dark part of me that has a weakness for bad boys." |

On Angel and Angelus - from interviews I've seen with Boreanaz, my impression was that the *real* acting job he did was as the stoic, strong, silent, macho broody Angel. His real-life persona is very very different, and reminds me of Justin Timberlake or someone like that.
And so I too never completely bought the "evil" persona of Angelus, since DB had to go in the *opposite* direction of the tough (but good) Angel, and ended up (to me anyway) seeing sort of childish and petty and spiteful, but not ruthlessly, remorselessly evil. On Eliza - see this thread and this link. |

Geeze -- I wonder if it was Eliza who was the cast member in the bar.
That photo looks like Eliza either was enduring the harrasment with a smile, or is being duplicitous. But I could see one cheesecake photo being OK in her eyes, but later maybe the producer was getting out of hand. And yea -- totally concur - Angelus came across as a juvenille delinquint, pouty ... not a spectacularly accomplished and feared vampire who had a particularly evil and driving ambition, even as vampires go. ![]() "I'm merely responding to that dark part of me that has a weakness for bad boys." |

Angelus seemed so differnt from Season 2 Buffy to Season 4 Angel, I mean anything other than flashbacks, I found he seemed so non scary and evil on Angel, maybe because on Buffy he actually killed someone close to Buffy or Giles and Passions was Angelus at his best.
I enjoyed his flashbacks, you know he and Xena are both the same, both have a dark past and want redemption and we see both of there pasts come back to haunt them in the present. _________________________________________________________________

Sorry, I meant Passion the Buffy season 2 episode, not Passions, I made the wrong impression.
Although they had a Passions reference in Buffy season 5, Spike and Joyce watched it in Check Point I think. And It was mentioned in season 4 too I think. _________________________________________________________________

quite a hilarious fellow.
Have just watched the DVD version of this film and am now curious to the ill-fated Firefly series. (Guess I'm not a browncoat, but would've been if NZ was in on the deal) As a 'newcomer' to this Firefly show, I was unaware of the importance of this beatenup cruiser and that the siblings Tam were the cause of this adventure, and ironically of the violent twist to peace. Josh definitely is a character. toa ![]() Run Argo... Run... I love it when a plan comes together! - Hannibal Smith, The A-Team |

Haven't seen Firefly yet, Guess I never got a chance to see it since it got axed too soon for me to watch it.
Is it a darker show compared to Buffy and Angel? _________________________________________________________________

THE WISH...
This was a very interesting episode I felt for various reasons. Sure I liked vamp Willow and Xander as this big bad vampire (even wearing Spike's black, leather duster coat), but the reason this episode was so interesting was because of Buffy. It had been mentioned that the reason Buffy had lasted as long as she did was because unlike the slayers before her, she had ties to the world like her mother and the scoobies. I also believe the reason she lived unlike the others was because she felt that helping others was the MOST important reason for being the chosen one instead of being just in it for the kill. In THE WISH, we see an alternate version of Buffy without the support of any friends and so because of this, she clearly is a much darker and colder character. She dosen't care about helping anyone. This is clearly shown when she finds Angel chained to a wall in a cage (before she knew that he wasen't just a normal person), and instead of trying to help him, she was about to turn her back on him without giving it a second thought. She was in it (being the slayer) just for the kill and nothing else and she died. Clearly a reflection of all the past slayers who had died young like Nikkie who put "the mission" above all else including her son. |

Likes/Loves:
Giles - his character was great. he was such a "nerd" in the beginning, all prim and proper...an act perhaps, because we all know about his "Ripper" past. His character development was fun to watch. Willow - she was so cute and innocent in the beginning and then became very powerful by the end and it was dealt with realistically because she stumbled in the process (becoming "witchcraft addicted" Willow). Angel - because David Boreanaz is hot. Drusilla - she's a freak!! love her! Andrew - such a dolt, but I thoroughly enjoyed his ridiculous banter Seasons 1-3 ******************************************* Dislikes/Loathes: Spike - even when he was evil he was panty whipped. Anya - she's so damn annoying Season 6 Dawn - such a brat! don't remember Buffy, Willow and Xander acting like she did in high school Buffy's mom dying! Kennedy ******************************************** Borderline Likes/Dislikes Xander - enjoyed his comic relief but his character to me didn't evolve as much as the others did. Faith - can't stand the "my childhood sucked so I'm gonna be a b!tch about it for the rest of my life" persona. BUT I liked her kick @#%$ attitude. Riley - I liked him in the beginning. A real relationship for Buffy, he had combat skills and fought for the same purpose, but then he just changed out of no where which was lame. Seasons 4, 5 and 7 That's all I can think of right now "XENA:WARRIOR GODDESS" |

For some reason, Xander was never my fav nor my dislike, I just never had anything for him. To me he was always the same character and never changed, I knda felt that he should of left in season 6, In season 7 he wasn't a big part of the season wheras Cordy got axed in season 5, yet they had so much they could of done with her. I really am upset with the way they handled her in season 4 of Angel and killing her in season 5.
