For all you non-shippers (although shippers can play too) who would you pair up Ares with in your wild fantasies? If Xena was out of the picture and he got over her, who would he be drawn to? And why would you think they'd make a good couple (or threesome as the case may be

Well, there's always Minya, but I think her true calling was to be a thespian . . .
 Hmm. . . as a shipper, I'd have to say Meg, Diana, or Leah.

As Ares' PR Rep, I have to object.
I think Ares deserves someone with a few more brain cells than Varia. (And that's not saying much. I mean, Argo has more brain cells than Varia.  ) And really, he didn't show the slightest amount of sexual interest in her in Path of Vengeance. He might as well have kept Mavican. At least she had, um... more substantial assets.  Meg, Diana or Leah?   Don't you remember what Xena said while she was in Callisto's body in TLW? "My body doesn't make me what I am, my deeds do." OK, maybe I can imagine a little Meg/Ares romp.... but Diana and Ares? let alone Leah and Ares?   I'm a diehard shipper of course, and I'm not really that interested in Ares with anyone but Xena ... and the idea of Ares "getting over" Xena is profoundly depressing ...  but if I absolutely had to pick another love interest for Ares, it would be Nebula. The only other woman in Xenaverse who was possibly worthy of the GOW and had some good chemistry with him.Unless one counts Greba... She just liked those bad boys. -- Lucy Lawless on Xena and Ares

Oh, c'mon people, it has to be Horace! Those sweet loving eyes, that understanding whine... that fierce protective streak that promises to bite the butt of anyone who dares touch a hair on Ares' head.
Seriously, I don't see anyone else with Ares. Or more to the point, Ares with someone other than Xena is just not interesting as far as I'm concerned. Tango |

Ares as God of War I do not see with anyone,that is not to say he would celebate but that he would do as was shown use people when he needed,or as legend has it, he would appear to the wives of his warriors as their husbands.
Mortal Ares would have to be with someone that worships him,as Xena said an 'emotion' he can understand,Minya did,Greba looked like she might,most of the other women on the show would be to powerful for mortal Ares,so I agree with Horace. |

He seemed to have a slight hint of affection for Gabrielle in a few episodes.  |

I said Ares and Varia because they are both so "thick"! Always thinkin they're right when they're not. Always wanting what is best, but always takin the wrong route. That's all.
BTW- I really do like Ares, though it may not sound like it. Ephiny: "Come_now."

Adrummer, it never occurred to me that Ares and Varia had that in common. (Btw, I hope I didn't come off as if I was actually upset at you for that suggestion! Just being facetious.) But think about it, if you have two people who have a habit of messing up even with the best of intentions, is it a good idea to bring them together? Oy. Besides, Ares may be "thick" but at least he's witty. Varia wouldn't recognize humor if it came up and bit her on her scantily clad butt. I can't imagine Ares ever spending any quality time with a chick who didn't have a sense of humor. She just liked those bad boys. -- Lucy Lawless on Xena and Ares
