I'm not a subtexter as I said and always appreciate the answer Your extremely clever and gentleman husband mr Tapert said in some interviews or in question&ask. I'm not blind and I really think there is not only friendship between Xena and Gabby but not in the exaggerated way some fans see it. Well, lesbians ( I have some friends on that wide spread community) can't help to see subtext everywhere but it's not the heart of the show, I mean, even if miss O'Connor said it was subtext. I also think she couldn't say anything different because the interview was for afterellen, a lesbian site.
Mr Tapert is right saying not to take this subtext too seriously changing normal with different even when not necessary or needed.
Understand me, no prejudices!! When I say normal it's nothing more that its common meaning.
But sometimes I felt as I'm in the wrong place. Writing on some forums on the web I received a lot of answers from lesbians and bisexual fans. For this reason I asked if I was in the right place, being a etero single guy. I met several interesting people in the multiethnic and "multisexual" fandom and I'm still in touch with some of them.
I only wondered if XWP risks to be considered "only" a lesbian show.
Soulmate can have many meanings I think. Xena had at least one son in the "normal" way and Gabby get married.
I never offended a member and I never thought to do it but, after saying this some Xenites wrote me "what about bisexuality?" well, I say, and what about normality?
I respect all differences in sexual matters (studying Histology and Physiology I discovered many things), religions, never considered a person by his or her believes or race but by actions and I learnt not to judge other people. Am I not sufficiently open minded? Don't think so.
After this I said to myself (ehi, I'm not crazy, right?!) I'm a Xenite ( a Xena fan) and a Lucite ( a Lucy fan) for valid reasons and in Fandom there can be a little place for me, too.
I mean friendship between the two characters is a kind of feeling beyond sacrifice that it's hard to find in everyday life nowadays and I believe every person hopes to find a comrade to share good and bad, but not considering him or her a lover or I'd dare to say "only" a lover.
Oh, I'm talking as a little child! Sorry but I'm
exited and sometimes emotion makes my hand tremble while writing, with my mind.
