Ok, as soon as Ares became corporeal in the late great Kevin Smith, I couldn't wait for him to have a Smackdown with Herc. I loved it when he and Herc
rumbled in the ep where Herc saw Selena's life without his influence. I think that was their first fight, and I remember sitting up in my seat for it.
Unlike later fights, that one felt more serious, and I like how Herc gets Ares in a semi-choke with the Hinds Blood Dagger.
However, most of their later fights were sadly disappointing. They made Ares more of a clown, and I liked him darker and more menacing. Their fight in Reunions is ok, but it was certainly secondary to Herc's throwdown with Hera, and I hated their fight in the magic rock eye ep (forgot the title) where Ares didn't seem to get any momentum.
One fight where I felt robbed was in Xena's GFC. I wanted the last throwdown to be a great one, but Hera cut it FAR too short.
Was anyone else disappointed by the decline in the severity of their batttles? What's your favorite fight?

I did too. Ares deserved a good win. Almost every single villain that Hercules fights he is able to beat in single combat; it gets boring. Just once it
would have been great to see Ares wipe the floor with Herc and have Hercules flee for his life. And no one deserved to beat up Hercules more than Ares.
