I actually liked Palaemon better, and I would have liked it if they brought the character back, so he would no longer be a One Episode Wonder.

Jeremy Callaghan played 2 characters on Xena, Pompey and Palaemon. Which performance did you like better?

I voted for Palaemon too. He was basically a young male version of Xena, and he was pretty cool. I think he was in the middle of the stage most men go through
when we feel like we have to prove ourselves to the world be in our parents/friends, etc. Pompey kind of bored me. I barely recall the character.

I liked Palaemon, but I also thought Pompey had potential . . . of course, they had to kill him off in Endgame, so that wasn't too likely.

Oh don't make me choooooose! Kidding.
I loved Pompey, he had an interesting personality toward Xena that was matched by his syrupy animosity toward Caesar. I didn't quite know what to make of him in WIR, it's too bad it waned in Good Day and Endgame. I thought he served his purpose enough as there really wasn't much you could do with him if he wasn't attracted to Xena but Caesar was always nearby too. It would be two on one regardless, and being the less popular character he'd lose. Palaemon was yet another cocky evil wannabe story but I liked that he came close to a physical equal of Xena, he could backflip and was a good fighter. He could definitely have come back as a more mature warrior, probably shaking off Vidalis' attempts to try out a new exfoliant on him.

Pompey. As something of a Xena/Caesar aficionado, I thought his interactions and the potential dynamic between the three of them were quite interesting,
although I wish they'd done more with it on the show.

Palaemon he had a bit of potential as a recurring character. He was one of those early little aww plot devices used to make the rest of that storyline about
Xena getting blinded and saving Gabrielle work. I think it was good to show Xena could do amazing things even blind, so they had to have another character to
pull of that storyline.
Pompey, well maybe its that even before Xena and aside from the show I have no love for the ancient Romans. I don't know just they've always crawled under my skin. So even his character did and he was really just some pompous guy who really served no purpose. I have to say he did portray them well though as far as I've ever read about Pompey. Just the character. ![]()

For some reason Pompey made no blip on my radar. He was one of those characters that was just a character.
Palaemon on the other hand blipped all over the place. He was interesting, but what I think made the most difference is that I love Blind Faith. The episodes Pompey was in on the other hand were a bit more lukewarm. ![]() |

What, no one thinks Pompey was cute?
I voted for Palaemon, but I did like both characters (and performances) a lot, though Jeremy's performance as Pompey is slightly marred for me by his hamminess in Endgame. If his last appearance had been on a par with the first two, I would have had a really tough time making a pick (and might have gone with Pompey -- like DoT, I find the Romans' power struggles endlessly fascinating).

I voted Palaemon, but I think Pompey is pretty cool too. Plus, the Pompey episodes are quite good imho. The only thing that disturbs me a bit about him is that
he's wearing this large white t-shirt under his armour. It looks ridiculous, almost like a white nightie.
