Mortals are members who are logged into their account and visiting the board. If the user has chosen to set themselves as Anonymous in their Settings, then they will show up as an Immortal (and therefore, you can't see their name listed at the top of the board, either). I assume mortals are logged in members, and immortals are Mods? (logged in and anonymous, or anonymous?)
