She actually didn't lick blood off her fingers so much as running her fingers over her very bloody blade. But yeah, I guess you could say that the extended scenes between Hercules and Xena were cut for that reason even if they weren't really that bad.

There was also a moment before Xena and Hercules go to Darphus' camp (right before Iolaus works to start the wagon on fire) that was cut from the aired version. Guess that was cut just because of time:

I think aerips got it right - the additional footage seen on the Trilogy DVD collection was shot but not included in the aired eps, both for reasons of airtime (got to get it down to 43 minutes or less) and because of the nature of the footage. Don't forget, H:TLJ was marketed as a family-friendly, kid-safe adventure show; extended scenes of Herc and Xena coupling like weasels or Xena licking blood off of her fingers could definitely have given some sponsors second thoughts.

The Trilogy is on DVD and you might be able to find it on Amazon (not looked but it has been sold before).

on ebay they have the trilogy on tape (i have it and it does have the whole scene) and you could have that converted to dvd it will be expensive but i think is the only way to get what you want

Well, the episodes on the Hercules dvd's are the same as the way they aired.

My guess is that the missing scenes had been filmed to be part of the episode but then had to be cut order to get it down to the allotted amount of air time. But then when they did a special package of just those three episodes, which was obviously designed to appeal to Xena fans, they included the "lost" scenes, kind of director's cut like they sometimes do with movies on dvd. Pretty much...

Come to think of it, I think I know why so many scenes of the Trilogy were cut on the Season 1 DVD. Licensing and rights. I know that a number of clips from Hercules in The Xena Trilogy were used/sold to the license name "Xena: Warrior Princess" as part of promotion.

Thank you all so much for trying to help me. It seems I am going to have to buy the Trilogy. It is true that the Season I set dose not have the full scene as mentioned here. That is the one I have. I have tried to find a good copy somewhere, anywhere else, but can not. Found a really lousy version on Youtube, but it is useless for what I want to do.

The kissing scene is longer in the uncut version, probably about 1-2 minutes longer, I'm guessing. Xena and Hercules change positions quite a bit (of who's on top). There is a lot more view of thigh and it looks more sexual--there's some serious tounge action going on (see my thread in All Ships Ahoy). Still, it was never very bad and I have no idea why it's shortened on the season 1 DVD.

It doesn't. That's what Charis is talking about. She bought season 1 of Herc and the scene is cut very short. The Trilogy, on the other hand, with just the three eps (Warrior Princess, The Gauntlet & Unchained Heart) does have the full scene.

...and oh man am I pissed! I was so excited when I saw it there on the shelf. A used copy of Hercules season I, and I thought FINALLY I can make my own screen captures of the love scene between Xena and Herc! YEA! Um, no. It is TOTALLY cut to nothing! I nearly fell off my chair. I thought my head was gonna explode!

So, what I am wondering...dose anyone have a DVD copy of this episode WITH the ENTIRE love scene in it??? I have it on an OLDE tape somewhere. It probably would not even...
