I totally agree with dahllaz about the Gabrielle/Eve (! for some reason I almost wrote "Hope/Eve" -- WTF? ) chemistry or lack thereof.

Actually I thought the tensions between them were very interesting (one of the few things I enjoy about Who's Gurkhan?), and I wish TPTB had explored that more.

I actually liked the character of Eve/Livia, both as a baby and as an adult. I liked her as a baby because it showed how warm and caring Xena could really be, and I liked her as an adult because I just think that Adrienne is a kick-ass actress.

just want to say no, Eve didn't ruin Xena and Gabrielle...nothing ever could. Not Hope, not the "betrayal" in the Debt, not Callisto, not Ares, and not Eve.

I loved seeing Xena, Gabrielle and baby Eve as a family. LOVED that! One of the only portrayals of a lesbian couple with a baby on televsion! And i also loved the "We got our daughter back." line- YES it may have seemed odd, but I saw it as a way of Xena trying to bring them all back together, to regain...

i like her off and on. both as a baby and grown woman. yes i too belived that it took it from just subtext to a family subtext which something you dont always see on regular tv. only on show that is like on showtime (l word,queer as folk) to me that is what i like best about this. as a grown woman it had its moments the way eve loved both gabrielle and xena like her mothers and not just xena really helped me out.

I don't think Eve ruined X/G for me - but she didn't really make it better either. Like so much of S5, she was just another thing that was started and could have created some really interesting things/circumstances, but the ball was dropped. And then in S6, they let adult Eve degrade into a joke, but that was more the detriment to her, than to Xena or Gabrielle.

For me, I was disappointed that the Hope parallels weren't brought up by Kira wrote:

Not to mention the whole parallel between Hope and Eve. Both did incredibly horrible things, yet Xena went to great lengths to save her daughter, but never gave Gabrielle the same chance to do so. Granted we know Hope was a "vessel" for evil, and couldnt have been saved, but who know what could of happened had Gabrielle actually raised her.

Well I always saw them as a family, like in the last scene of Kindred Spirits where they are all three together. Gabrielle is leaning towards Eve and I find that cute. Also in LDITE Gabrielle is singing for Eve, that is very sweet too.

i didnt have a problem with the twilight or having Eve, i just found i really didnt like her for killing Joxer when she was livia, then when she was Eve again her whole messenger of eli thing sometimes bothered me but i didnt hate her or think she ruined anything...

The look on Gabrielle's face when Xena makes/puts Eve into the swing and swings her, while still in Siberia, is a perfect example of how she felt about Eve, and also, how I felt about Eve; meh.
I wasn't a fan of Eve ever. She was just a major pain in my @ss from day one and I certainly didn't mind when she faded out of the show. Good riddance as far as I was concerned. Hell I liked Virgil better! Nope, Eve wasn't a good addition as far as I was concerned.

I agree that I think Xena mysteriously showing up pregnant would threw a bit of a kink into the X/G relationship. Even the show-which was written to be interpreted as either subber or straight-seemed to distance the relationship as the more the pregnancy progressed. I really disliked the entire Eve storyline-even if it DID provide one of my favorite lines EVER ( Ares-I woulda PAID to see that).

I hated the whole twilight/25 year leap thing. I must admit, that I freakin LOVED...

For Me the Eve story line, although it seemed to kinda take away from xena and gabs focus a little, really made them seem like a family - a family very very much like my own. Finaly there was a show that has two women raising a child together, they talked about raising her, Gab loved the child just as much as Xena, as she says in them bones, them bones and for once something even resembeling a 'rainbow family' was shown on tv - not only disd the show open doors for lesbians in media,...

Am I the only one who just LOVED the Twilight thing here? I don't feel much to Eve/Livia as a character herself, tho. I dunno she was interesting, but Livia fighting Xena was just plain wrong to me. She didn't ruin the subtext though, never. Like Jolly said, it became family subtext. Can't say I loved it but neither I can say I hated it.

In a way, once Eve came along they became the typical married couple, Always worried about what the kids were upto!

I agree Gabrielle and Eve didnt seem to click much at all. Xena just seemed to want Eve so badly.

I think Lucy and Renee themselves thought the whole scenario was off-beat and not a lot of fun! Can't really explain why, maybe it was the actress? The Writers? Tired old show? Who knows.

I'm watching Them Bones, Them Bones (I know) and looking back, it kind of pissed me off how invested Gabrielle cared about Xena's baby knowing that after all that trouble, she becomes a whiny pathetic 'warrior' annoying bitch (excuse my language). Anyone feel the same way?
