Ayoshen, it is very loving what you and your Mom did, and very sad how the officers responded to the call for help. Animals should be treated with respect and love.

That is awful hun...

2 stories... one was from last summer something similar happened only it was a car that had hit a dog... I didn't see the actual incident happen, but what I did see was just a disturbing... I was on my way to work, and there was about 6 cars ahead of me... all of which are going around a foreign object in the road.. as I instinctively head into the other lane of traffic I see this "rug" lift its head... Someone had hit a dog, and just left it in...

thats awfull! Some people are just idiots really! We had that once with a cat some kids put a fire cracker in his mouth so he was just laing on the floor in shock dying. he was in a lot of pain so we killed it ourselves. Its not something you want to but when I ever end up in so much pain pls just kill me. Its really sad that some people just dont care

That's a really sad story, Ayoshen. I agree that the train probably couldn't have stopped on time...trains require a lot of stopping distance, that's why they always tell people never to try to beat the train, because if you mistime it the train can't stop. I do think the cops should have shown more compassion and caring for the dog though. (And what's that about the vet being too busy to take care of the dog? That's the vet's *job!*)

My guess is that the engineer on the train saw the dog and that's why the train slowed down. My dad was a railroad engineer who always warned me how it was next to impossible for a train to stop in order to avoid hitting anything. Of course he was thinking about cars and people. Very kind of you to stay with the dog. As for the police.....

But you don't know, maybe they did take the dog to the vet? Though judging by their attitude... sadly, probably not...

The train probably couldn't have stopped in time and I'm not sure that anything could have been done for the...

I can't really blame the train, though, since it could have been difficult to see the dog there. Who knows if they tried to stop or not...

Well maybe the cops had a point there, that the train wouldn't probably be able to stop in time even if they saw the dog... But why did nobody come to help, it could...
