Are we dicussing the whole trilogy or just the Rheingold? Cause I just watched all three episode and have some questions and comments about the other two episodes.

I liked the music. I wasn't a huge fan of the trilogy to be honest.

Oh help...anyone know the name of the song that was played when they first showed Xena making the ring? It was also played in The Abyss..

I liked that music as well unfortunately do not know the song either but --- hopefully someone will come along to answer this ??????

Oh help...anyone know the name of the song that was played when they first showed Xena making the ring? It was also played in The Abyss when Xena was tying up the bolders and also on the home menu for the 10 Annervisary DVD...I've looked everywhere and just love the music. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As for this episode, I love this ark mainly because you can watch them in a row and there you have a movie.
Plus the whole line...

I completely agree with Drawing Blood. Why the hell did Xena and Gabrielle get into bed, fully clothed, in armour and with their boots on. Getting in bed with boots on looked just plain stupid and wrong. It's not like they both had to fall asleep that moment and didn't have time. For crying out loud it was ridiculous!

(Now to the Good points)
I really like The Ring Trilogy with all it's unraveling of Xena's past, but I mainly watch it for the X and G...

I really enjoyed the Norse Trilogy as a whole and it is hard to judge this episode on its own since it basically serves to set up two more episodes worth of action/drama (and as such is a little lacking in action/drama itself).

Probably my main issue with this episode would be Xena running off to engage in a suicidal quest and leave Gabrielle behind (yet again). After all these seasons/years, I really would have expected better of Xena as opposed to brief "good-bye" note...

They call The Rheingold the first ep of a trilogy but in fact it's the beginning of an epic worthy as a stand alone movie in my view.

The very beginning is a bit baffling not understanding why Xena is seen wearing a winged helmet or making a gold ring. They do a good job however letting events unfold allowing an understanding at least something in Xena's past was why she had to go with Beowulf. It was very creative to use that...

I like to think Xena went to the Norselands after the death of Borias, just because I like to try and make Evil Xena's past as consistent as possible. Maybe the Norse people were misinformed about Xena's previous exploits. Most likely RJ Stewart wasn't really concerned with keeping the timeline straight, but as far as mistakes go this one can be explained away quite easily.

Most of the criticisms sound right. I say "most", not all. I found the acting to be good.

The background music in the schenes Xena forges the ring is my favorite from the series.

The blond Rhinemaiden is thoroughly winning.

My vote is about 8 chakrams. I think the ep considerably advances our knowledge of EX.

When I first watched X:WP's take on Wagner's Ring cycle, I was quite amused by the idea of Xena being both Alberich, the evil dwarf who renounces love in order to steal the Rheingold, and Siegfried, the hero of the cycle (insofar as this epic actually has a hero). After further viewings, I remain amused - the trilogy certainly has its lumpy spots, but after the Toontown stylings of The Abyss it's good to return to...

I'm rather pleased with this trilogy & feel that this is somes the series' best material. I found it funny that this trilogy occured shortly after I read Beowulf. Anywho, on to my review:

For the mostpart, I see the EX flashbacks as a natrual progession from PI. It's perfectly clear to me that Xena has already met Ares & een trained by him because she has the chakram & she has that trademark focus that she supposedly received from Ares, but the Chin thing...

This was my least favourite Evil Xena locale, and this episode my least favourite of the trilogy. 5/10 round killing things

We can assume this took place after Past Imperfect because Xena fled Corinth without anyone at all (Satrina who?). Failure to capture the Ixion Stone could have motivated her to look for a new material power, and she found out about the Rheingold somehow. Although Brunhilda only...
