I'm glad Cal didn't just use sex to get her way all the time, 'cause it's such a stereotypical "girl thing" to do. To me, it implies a woman isn't strong enough to get what she wants through other ways. Not that I think fear and strong-arm tactics are the best way to get things done, either. . . but I like seeing stereotypes turned on their heads.

Yep i agree with everyone Callisto probably did it for her own 'self' gain she doesn't care who she hurts she just want's things her way. As for Hope i think they could have been mother and daughter but i don't think Callisto is mentally able to be a mother besides she's still somewhat a child herself. But i guess in some twisted way they could have been mother and daughter.

That's why I'm conflicted at the responses that Cal just used Ares for sex to mess with Xena's body. After rejecting sex and love for so long, I couldn't see why she would allow herself to be used like that just to hurt Xena. She'd never allow herself to go that far before.

Even though it was Xena's body, it had Callisto's brain. And she didn't stumble back to Argo trying to wipe herself off scowling at going so low, she was weaving in that comedy...

Hmm.... I don't know. I just don't see Callisto as having any sexual attraction to Ares. Unless maybe she does have sexual feelings for him, but hates those feelings and projects that hatred on him?

Callisto's attitude toward sex and sexuality is a fascinating issue.

I think that in a way, Callisto did use sex as a weapon -- not so much to seduce as to taunt, mock and humiliate. The most obvious example of this is the kiss she lays on Hercules. Her interaction with Xena is also tined with sexual taunting.

Her anti-love and anti-reproduction stance is based, I think, on several things: one, her profound hatred of the human connections that have been denied to her...

I agree with every one else about Callisto's roll in the sheets with Ares it was just to spite Xena by using her body in a way she would have disliked. I was never to sure about Callisto and Hope, Callisto seemed really jealous when Ares shows up and starts making out with Dahak's daughter. In my opinion I think she'd have done anything for Hope if it meant getting the hind's blood dagger.
