There was an Angel fic that I really enjoyed a number of years back that fell into this category--a hurt/comfort story dealing with permanent injury. Doyle is brought back, but the Oracles can restore either his life or the other injuries he suffered during his ordeal with the Horde, and Angel chooses his life, so after that he's in a wheelchair. I won't spoil the rest!

Gabfan--I have links, but they may not be what you're looking for. It's AU, and the two main characters are Gabrielle and Caesar, Caesar having been kept as a slave by Xena for years before finally escaping. He is the one who is crippled, and as I stated, the fics are not hurt/comfort, and in fact not really romantic. (Well, mostly not...Caesar still carries a torch for Xena, believe it or not. )

I don't write hurt, comfort fics myself but I admit I do like reading them if there written well.

I think LJ Mass's To Become A Queen is a great hurt, comfort fic. Though I'm not a fan of sexual assault in fan fiction this is an exception and it's written really well, also how Gabrielle gets better is done in such clever way.

I don't have the name of the shoulder fanfic which is very annoying as it is well written. And I can't remember where I read it either.
