Okay, one more--promise...(for now...The gods themselves only know what else I've forgotten...)
Simple premise: Ares disguises himself as a member of Xena's army in order to get to know her better as a person.
It worked out really well, and I liked the more "romantic"/emotional nature of the fic.
(If somebody told me this one was a Carly, a Briar or a LadyKate, I wouldn't be surprised...)

I think I might have found the Altar Sex one that someone was looking for a page or two back. Not sure if it's the right one, but it's one I stumbled across and thought was pretty good. Slow Burn (If someone already found it and I developed selective sight or something when I was reading this thread, then sorry :D)

The references in "Night Whispers" to the episode "Who's Gurkhan" reminded me of a fic I'm now currently seeking where it turns out the figurehead of "Gurkhan" is Ares in disguise (this has it that Xena has already infiltrated the compound, etc. as in canon--It is made explicitly clear that he never allows anyone to see him.) Ares, having taken on this fictional persona, frees the women of the harem from their servitude in a good example of...

I'm searching for some of the fics that have yet to be found on the "Way back machine". .. If anyone wants to help, the site is archives.org it goes back to websites from 1998/1999 showing all archives and updated so we might be able to find what we are looking for it anyone knows the site address

There was one a long time ago for the shipper seasons but it doesn't exist anymore, not in that form. I had intended, years ago, to have discussion on it and part of the website but it never worked out that way because there was next to no activity. So, all discussion has since happened at the XOC.

Figured I'd start up a new fic hunter's thread, since the old one seems rather to have disappeared into the ether...

I'm actually looking for two.

The first is a drama/romance, author unknown wherein Xena is the latest in a line of women throughout the centuries to bear the piece of Ares' soul that would prevent his being an effective GoW. In other words,
she is caretaker of his "soft side," as it were.
Ares also knows he's been drawn to no other Bearer like...
