Assorted convention reports and links about Kevin and Michael are here, starting halfway down the page (this was a thread just like this one, with lots of discussion in the months leading up to the event.) And I'm sure there are plenty of BSG, Buffy, Smallville and Trek fansites that detail the rest of the event.

Once Hercules went off the air, Creation stopped paying royalties to use the name. That hasn't meant that they don't invite people from Hercules to do conventions but this way they don't have to pay for the rights to use both shows' names.

And speaking of Creation conventions: Michael Hurst has just been added to Creation's Grand Slam Summit, 11-13 April 2008 at the Burbank Airport Marriott. This is the one Kevin Sorbo is also doing, the first time they will have...

Good point that cons tend to be shows with sci-fi or fantasy bent. The only show that isn't exactly sci-fi/fantasy, but has some con's Is Lost. But I guess the cons for that show are growing, since the show is still new, well not exactly, but on-air now. It surprises me Desperate Housewives or CSI dont have any.

Yep, but it's the other way around - "they" i.e. the people who produce the shows - don't make the conventions, since those don't attract new viewers to the shows, just a microscopic fraction of the people who are already watching. The...

Creation actually has done Lost cons!

But then it's a very weird cult-y show too, just the odd one that actually attracts a big audience. (And in the ultimate demonstration of its own unique oddity.... it draws a genre-oriented audience eager for the supernatural and/or science fiction....by promising them both, yet never really delivering either! )

Yep, at about age 25, Ted appeared in 2 eps of "Twin Peaks" towards the end of the 2nd season as Rusty, aka the "heavy metal youth." He's described as "the loner who died inside the large chess piece." I'll dig up a pic.....

There used to be a Hercules track at Dragon Con.

But now, since Sorbo went on to a new show, he sort of has his own track, i.e. if he does a convention, it's a big deal, and people come to see him for whatever reason. Bruce and Ted were like that long before XWP and HTLJ, popular not just for the Evil Dead movies, but for their respective shows (Brisco and Seaquest) and in Ted's case for other genre shows like Alien Nation and Twin Peaks that he appeared on.

I recall the veteran online fan Lil (with her gazillion other handles!) reported attending a Creation con where Sorbo had attempted to go down into the audience, or invite, a handicapped or mentally challenged fan, and a staffer prevented it and Lil saw Sorbo arguing with said staffer quite furiously. That might've soured him on Creation for a moment or a few years, or had nothing at all to do with him not being a guest much - as someone said he *has* been seen since.

Ya know, this just dawned on me. Of course, I've been too busy with RL to think about this until now...

Everything has been Xena, Xena, Xena...Xena conventions this, Xena conventions, that. And yet- NOT ONE mention of Hercules. All conventions have been Xena: Warrior Princess conventions. I know both would have been bundled together, anyway-but all conventions are exclusively "Xena".
