Hero's Heart belt from Thanatos

Had this one for a while. Won it a local TradeMe NZ online auction. The only clue of who it was worn by is a masking tape written name of Thanatos. So a little tinkering at Whoosh brought up the episode Hero's Heart. No screengrabs available for comparison.

So HTLJ fans, can you help out pls???

Herc fights/what could they have done?

One reason I started leaning more toward Xena was that her character had a greater range of action. She could flip, kick, use special weapons. While I liked Herc's fights at first, they never seemed to evolved and over the course of the series--in light of what Xena could do---got boring. I even remember reading and interview where one of the creators said the Herc fights were boring him as well.

So..what could they have done to make the fights better? Give Herc a weapon?...

Iolaus' look-a-like cousin Orestes

What did everyone think of the storylines involving Iolaus' double, King Orestes of Attica? I have just finished watching the two episodes that he appeared in. I like the second one better than the first, I think, but I was wondering what everyone's opinions were.

I also listened to the interviews after watching Long Live the King and Michael had a very interesting story idea for something he would have liked to do. He would have liked to see a third episode that...

Xena affecting Hercules success

Did the rapid success of Xena sway many viewers from Hercules during the air? In my memory, Xena received wildly more attention in the media and talk shows with its innovative design, and Hercules seemed to fade into the background quite a bit despite being the parent show.

For instance, I watched the first two seasons, simultaneously when Herc 2 and Xena 1 were on, then gravitated away to watching Xena full time, returning to Herc when it featured Xena characters or the Dahak arc....

Dahak - Hercules and Xena

What's your opinion of how Xena and Hercules separately handled the Dahak saga and how it might have ended?

The stories have a lot of parellels in their basic plots. Among them are:

- A journey to a new foreign land to help an old friend in need
- The illusion of an ally, and an attempted sacrifice
- Travel to a foreign land searching for the partner, who is not there.
- Return of the partner with a twist
- Dahak's manipulation of the partner...

Subtext between Herc/Iaolus

So first of all know I only watch Hercules casually, and have probably watched no more than ten episodes at present - Though I'm working on it. However at times I've noticed that Hercules and Iaoluses relationship can echo Xena and Gabrielle's, do you think there was any subtext between the two and if so do you think the fact that they were both males prevented it from being used and adapted more on screen, apose to Xena/Gabrielle's which was developed to an outstanding...

Hera's death in GFC

What did you think about Hera's death in GFC, did you like the way she went out on or was it rather pointless for such a strong powerful character.

Would it have been better if only Zeus died in GFC, and Hera remained alive for the twlight arc a little more.

'Stranger in a Strange World' (and 'Stranger and Stranger') saw many of the H:TLJ and X:WP characters undergo vastly different personas in the Sovereign's world. For instance, Aphrodite was very conservative and uptight and Joxer was a fighter who was in charge of a rebel gang. Anyway, who would you have liked to see make an appearance in either of those episodes? And what would they have been like in the alternate universe?

Ok, as soon as Ares became corporeal in the late great Kevin Smith, I couldn't wait for him to have a Smackdown with Herc. I loved it when he and Herc rumbled in the ep where Herc saw Selena's life without his influence. I think that was their first fight, and I remember sitting up in my seat for it. Unlike later fights, that one felt more serious, and I like how Herc gets Ares in a semi-choke with the Hinds Blood Dagger.

However, most of their later fights were sadly...

I posted this some time ago on the old General Forum, and thought it might be a good conversation piece for the new forum - see what you think.

Watching H:TLJ, one aspect of the show that really sticks out to me is the endless parade of supporting characters. Herc writers cranked out one memorable eccentric after another - Salmoneus, Autolycus, Falafel, 'Dite, Strife, Discord, Nebula, Morrigan - as well as family or semi-family members...

The site Hulu.com just recently opened and it has the entire series of Young Hercules on there that you can watch completely for free. The episodes come with adds in the middle, but it's still exciting just the same. I've been wanting to rewatch this series ever since I first saw it when I was 10, and since there is no official DVD release, this site is a godsend to me. They don't have any Hercules or Xena episodes up on there yet, but I'm sure this will become very popular...
